Save paused has not any relation with the problem.
But, there is a true problem. At the same time, when you enter a new game, the autosave game is used, if you played before a game with other mod, you have many chances from a crash. Solution? remove the autosave when you load different mods or if you want play the original game.
I got part of this information asking to the developers when I told them about fix the savegames before, one year ago.
The solution from the author of the mod is funny for me because that are the type of things that I do many times without problems. But I would like if he was loading the game in a HDD, much more slow than SSD (solid state drive).
