you use the Petroglyph Editor and then install a patch for it that they released to make it compatable with Steam

It actually appears that, with the fix, it fixes one of three errors. The two errors still persist no matter what.

Found the issue. You need to put the directory for the map editor installer into the steam game. So it would be C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Star Wars Empire at War when the installer asks you where it should install it. Hope this helps.

What fix? A Patch? I got the files off Moddb just now and I am getting the error. They are in my steam EAW folder.

Okay, update:
Aparently the file I downloaded WAS the patch. So I got the editor, put the installer in the EAW folder, ran the installer, and now what? If I just drop the patch files in there, I get the error. So where does this file need to go because moddb doesn't explain where to put it and putting it in the EAW or Corruption folders does not remove the error.

You can install the original map editor here, which if I remember correctly needs to be installed into the steam directory when it asks you where to install: https://www.moddb.com/games/star-wars-empire-at-war/downloads/star-wars-empire-at-war-map-editor-installer

Once you have that installed, you need the patch from here: https://www.moddb.com/games/star-wars-empire-at-war/downloads/star-wars-empire-at-war-map-editor-update

If memory serves me correctly, you need to replace the terrain editor files with the patched terrain editor files. Or something like that. It's been quite a few years.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you're still stuck and I'll try to lend more of a hand.

While you are correct that it needs to be installed into the proper steam directory, the issue is that the installer for the EAW map editor (1) doesn't allow you to select an install location. The FOC patch (2) for it does, however. I don't recall (1) ever asking for an install path back in the day. If it did, it definitely doesn't now on Windows 10 even in compatibility mode.

The original install path for EAW was:

C:/Program Files (x86)/Lucas Arts/Star Wars Empire at War

If you knew what to look for in the registry, you could probably create whatever key the installer looks for to find the installation path. Alas, I don't know anything about that, personally. Creating a shortcut in that location definitely doesn't work.

Edit: Of course, you don't *need* to install (1) and you should NOT get hung up on it. The only reason Petroglyph recommends installing (1) is it comes with help documentation for noobs.

I installed the 64 bit map editor and it works great, it even has an option to generate a map preview, but I don't know where it goes? Any ideas?
