Still using original discs, need help with mods
I'm still using my original discs on 64 bit Windows 10. I can actually get the EAW Remake, Thrawn's Revenge, and Absolute Corruption 2.4 mods to work. However, I can't get the Elite Conflict Mod 1.2 to work. I've placed the mod in the mod folder and created a shortcut with the target path "C:\Program Files (x86)\LucasArts\Star Wars Empire at War Forces of Corruption\swfoc.exe"
MODPATH=Mods\elite_conflict_mod_ivii . Once Iaunched, it just goes to a white screen and freezes with an exception error. I guess I have a small list of questions I need answered by anyone kind enough to do so:

1. Is there anything different I need to do with the Elite Conflict Mod than what I've done with the other mods? Any particular way I need to launch it since I am using original discs

2. There is a mod launcher file I found at http://www.moddb.com/games/star-wars-empire-at-war-forces-of-corruption/downloads/foc-mod-launcher . Is this a safe file to download and is it helpful? I'm a always quite hesitant about downloading and running a .exe file.

3. The EAW Remake came with an executable 4 GB patch. I can actually get the EAW Remake to work for a while, but it inevitably crashes during a large space battle. I have not installed the patch yet, mainly because of my concerns with running a random .exe file. Does anyone have any experience with this patch and can you vouch for its safety?

4. Finally, can I alleviate a lot of my issues if I just import the game into steam and install the mods through Steam? Is that possible or will I actually just need to purchase the game through steam in order to get the mods to work through the workshop?

Thank you in advance.

You will need to purchase the game through steam, the old key codes for EaW and FoC wont work through steam. Not sure why, my old Medieval 2 codes did, but either way its on sale for $6.50 so its easier to just buy it on here. I did it the other day, its so much easier.

Thanks for the reply. I'll probably end up just making the purchase since it is quite the pain to manually load some of these mods.

you don't need to buy the disk version for these mods to work.

if this is happening that means you need to install the windows 7 fix that also somehow works for windows 10

http://www.moddb.com/games/star-wars-empire-at-war-forces-of-corruption/downloads/windows-vista-and-windows-7-fix

if you installed this already for the base game put the files directly into the mod, the game should work after that :)
