STAR WARS™ Empire at War: Gold Pack

Low Key mod that makes dead heroes stay dead.
So the title pretty much says it all. I'm looking for a low key mod, not something full on total conversion, just something that makes it so when a hero dies, they don't respawn. I'd like to have a little more risk to using them.

Right now, I deploy say... Colonel Veers into the field, and I don't care if he dies because he'll respawn in a few minutes. I deploy the emperor himself, and don't worry if he falls because he'll be back in a few minutes.

A lot of the time it also doesn't make much sense for heroes to respawn. Han Solo takes a direct, maximum energy blast to the face from an AT-AT, and activates his Star Trek 'beam me up' button to return to the med bay of an orbiting rebel ship, 5 planets over...

I did a quick test out of curiosity and what you're asking is super-easy to do. Just crack open gameconstants.xml and change

<Default_Hero_Respawn_Time>360.0</Default_Hero_Respawn_Time>
to
<Default_Hero_Respawn_Time>-1.0</Default_Hero_Respawn_Time>

and heroes stay dead. Heroes can still assassinate/steal tech/steal credits and they'll respawn like normal, but once they die they're removed from play. You may want to bump hero assassination costs up if balance is a concern though.

And if you want it for skirmish too, set <Build_Limit_Lifetime_For_All_Allies> to 1 for each individual hero.
