How to change the user name?

I installed the game on a computer passed on to me and the player name keeps showing up as the old username for the computer (even after I've modified the computer's username). Is there a way to edit the XML to fix this? I've installed and uninstalled many times.

The name is stored in binary/hex in your PC registry. In theory you can change it there, but I dunno what way to edit it would/wouldn/t make the game crash. :P

If install the game on another account with a different profilename on windows, the username on the game changes. Maybe it's taking it from the user folder? It wouldn't be practical for me to completely change the username since I have so many things in there already. I also tried going over the registry keys, but to no avail.

Does anybody know if it's possible to mod it away? maybe force it to load from somewhere else...

Go to multiplayer, then LAN and at the top-right you'll be able to change your username :)
