Cheating AI
So, I know it's generally accepted that the AI cheats in most strategy games but, I'm going through the campaign on normal, and the rebels are just throwing retarded numbers of everything at me with every assault. 60 XWANGS and other such nonsense, and this is when I am in control of most of the galaxy, and they are widdled down to a couple planets. They have nowhere near the income to forward this much hardware at me battle after battle.

Are there any mods to cut down on the AIs cheating habits?

I haven't experienced that. When I played as the Rebels, I wanted the Empire to send more star destroyers at me. They sent very few. :steamsad:

If you want to modify it yourself, download the EaW or FoC (whichever you're playing) .XML files from nexusmods or something and get your hands on DIFFICULTYADJUSTMENTS.XML. Open it up with a text editor like notepad and there will be a fairly straightforward bit of code for every difficulty that looks like

Modify it and throw it in your game's /data/xml/ folder (create it if it doesn't exist) and the changes will be applied to the base game.

As you can see, the AI doesn't cheat *that* much on normal (unmodded) but you can change the credit modifier to 0.8 or something to reduce income. Generally the AI only spams fighters in mods or on Hard (in my experience), but a few tartan patrol ships can fix that issue. :P

LOL Ive experienced that. Like stated previously, best bet is to have a good "extra garrison" as I call it. The space stations alone only provide a certain number, and all it takes is for your hangar to be destoryed.

I garrison each planet with 2 tartan patrol cruisers, and 2 acclimators. Each, and every one. I had a group of 60 x wings, 40 z wings, and about 20 of those little anti fighter ships that they have. They attacked me, and a level 2 space station, and the fight lasted a long time, and they took heavy losses, but they eventually got the better of me just due to sheer numbers. Once they destroyed my tartans, it was all over.

The Game was designed for slower computers. The AI needs to be slowed down because it processes and produces forces far faster than the human counterpart can. An AI sped slider would be a nice addition.
