How do I deploy my Fleet Commander ?
I put a scout ship in the warp-in-first slot. When I call for the rest of the fleet, the commander doesn't show up. Help ?

Thank you.

Maybe a dumb question, as im just getting back into the game myself after a long hiatus.

Are you using a Mod? Also, if memory serves fleet commanders come inside a larger ship by design. So sending in an cruiser will include the commander as opposed to sending in commander in a light transport.

The generic Fleet Commanders aren't available like that, you'll need either Piett, Thrawn or Home One if you want the bonus that way.

Well they will come in the largest ship available. Do you mean if you do the single jump in like the OP did with the scout they never come?

The fleet commander has to be present at the beginning of the battle in order to take effect. I know, it's dumb.

The Fleet Commander has to be in the beginning of the battle; that means no pathfinders. You can't call him in seperately, so you have to use the heros for the bonus' at that point.

Didn't know this interesting! I usually send the whole fleet in so never been an issue.

I still find it that odd honestly, considering the ground commanders can be deployed by themselves. They even bring soldiers along! It is too much to ask for them to show up in say, a corvette?
It doesn't matter if there's a mod. If you have fleet commanders such as Tarkin, or Fleet Commanders, they will not be there. Have your fleet all go in at once, and you'll be fine. Also Ship Commanders such as Vader or Thrawn, the unit cap will go over to accomodate them. So you can cheat the system.

The problem is, if I'm going anywhere with my fleet it is to attack. I'll have a bunch of ground units with me. If I don't send a scout in first to call the reinforcements, the dam game brings my troop transports in to fill the cap and even leaves most of my fighting ships out of the battle. Is there a way around that?

Do NOT bring your ground forces WITH your fleets. Keep them at a planet nearby for easy deployment. Don't let the enemy have the chance to wipe out your entire ground forces.

Oh yes, an Imperial fleet with an Interdictor will have a field day with those transports lol

Hmmm...I never thought of that. Thanks guys.

It would make logical sense to assign a fleet commander to a particular ship in galactic mode before you take the fleet into battle.

Of course, these things will never get put into the game so it's just wishful thinking.

Does anyone know if this is something that could possibly be implemented in a mod? Idk what the limitations of modding for this game are like, but Thrawn's Revenge and Republic at War have done some impressive things.

No. Mods are limited to what the engine is capable of doing, most of which is already on display in vanilla. I've been doing various modding things on this game for many years, and time after time again I find myself saying "if only this were possible".
