Game not launching (Fixed)
I'm having trouble getting the game to launch. It doesn't even make it to a black screen to crash, it won't launch off of steam. Going in to the files folder I've found that manually launching it from the .exe application has the same response. I've gone through all the usual steps as in; uninstalling and reinstalling, updating drivers, verifying the game files and even finding msvcp100.dll and msvcr100.dll and manually placing them in both of the folders. After all this hype was built up after the newest update and I can't launch the game. Heartbreaking honestly. If anybody has any suggestions that I haven't tried please list them as I will heed most advice.

For the black screen issue, it's *probably* a resolution problem. You'll need to manually edit some settinhgs in your PC registry files.

1) Run regedit (type "regedit" in your start menu's search bar and it'll pop up)
2) Go to HKey Current User\Software\Petroglyph\StarWars FOC\Profile\Profile0
3) Scroll down a bit and change the screen height/width/refresh rate to something else. You'll probably want to make it match whatever your graphics card and monitor are running.

When editing the registry, switch from "hexidecimal" to "decimal" so you can use normal numbers instead of hex code.

I dunno if that'll fix OP's issue or not though.
Didn't fix it.

I think that solution was for those that could get the game to launch but would be stuck at a black screen. I don't even get that far.

try to run on compatibility mode, or try to set the configs outside the game, like in regedit as explained above

Yep. Same issues. The only way it would work for me, was if I went in and searched for the FOC folder. I right clicked on that, went down to properties, then I went to the troubshooting area, and had it go through the recommended settings, then I pressed the Test button. But thats the only way it'll let me play. I also heard of another way, it didnt work for me but it may you. You might want to delete the corruption folder, then verify the game cache. But make sure the folder is completely off your computer before you verify the cache, that means emptying your recycle bin too.

Yeah none of those worked for me. I tried all those myself. It worked for a little while after the september windows update but then stopped worked again a few days later. I am just gonna have to sadly put this game in the bin of dead games.

On the main thread for the game the devs put out, they're putting together another patch but it hasn't been announced when. That may or may not be our saving grace.

Well lets just hope it is.

So I believe that i've found a solution. Go into your SteamApps < Star Wars Empire At War folder and open your "corruption" folder. The game launches the swfoc .exe and the one that works is named StarWarsG. Simply switch the names of the files and steam now launches the game properly. The same applies for the base game: Switch sweaw and StarWars G and it'll run. Let me know if this works for any of you.

Nope. Game still crashing when "loading".

Empire at war base still just closes after 3 seconds of steam claiming I am playing it.

Does your game make it to an actual blank screen? Or does it just say "syncing" and not launch anything?

My base game will "run" for about 3 seconds then close. By run I mean steam icon goes green and says I am playing it and then closes. FOC gets to the intital "loading" page then crashes with a generic windows "program has stopped" error.

It seems we're having different errors. I assume you've tried about every solution you've been given. Go into the game folder and try running FOC via the exe and not steam. Tell me what happens there as that may help me know what to look for.
