Only on mission 8, but Cracoganflies. Cross of Crocodile and Dragonflies, for a total of 36 attack (41 upgraded) and around 180 health. Not slow either.

Polar bear / Walrus. They are really cheap and spamable level 5 melee creatures with 40 melee damage when upgraded + horns. They shred as easily as they get shredded, though.

So far my most favored creations in order of tier are...

"Smiles"
Piranha + Ant (Piranha head, rest ant, that way it stays T1)
Tier 1 - 88C 105E
A comparatively costly tier 1 unit, but thanks to dig, pack hunt and 11 base damage this lil fella allows you to simply open with 4-6 of those and cracking down on your opponent to give you an early game advantage, and in later phases of the game they still can harass, which isn't the worst of things.

"Splatter"
Termite + Chameleon (Cham tail, rest Termite)
Tier 2 - 42C 50E
An insane siege tool as it has camo, 20 speed (Walking Stick can go to 25 - but he doubles the cost - not worth it) AND as icing with a cherry on top the termite's infestation. It forces the enemy to use detection tools, and if he doesn't - well he has a beautiful lab there - WOULD BE A SHAAAAAME....

"Pyraclaw"
Piranha + Scorpion (full piranha with all dem scorpion appendages)
Tier 2 - 98C 85E
A basic combat unit with 11 attack, frenzy, pack hunt and barrier destroy. All this makes those guys great at tearing down enemy bases.
It used to consist of lobster instead of scorpion, but with the later i sacrifice regeneration for 1 more melee damage and trade 10C more for 20E less, among things. [UNTESTED WITH SCORPION]

"Zap"
E. Eel + Raven (head and tail of the eel with a raven body)
Tier 3 - 148C 210E
Flying eel. Zaps things. Dangerous both alone (as it simply can suicide dive into your army and release the burst) as well as in groups (where it is making use of raven's pack hunter in combination with the decently damaging electric shocks)

"Needler" [UNTESTED]
Porcupine + Bald Eagle (full proc except for the eagle's talons and the wings on top)
Tier 3 - 212C 200E
As I haven't tested this yet, I cannot FULLY recommend it, but a flying armor shredder seems legit for me. Maybe a bit expensive in the cost department.

"Pounder"
Piranha (yes it is my fav) + Hippo (head and tail of pira, hippo body)
Tier 4 - 268C 165E
As mentioned in the combination description the pyrana is one of my favourite animals in IC, so no wonder how it snagged already 3 entries, and while the other two were early game units which wouldn't be completely useless in late, we are looking here at a in comparission to other units here fast unit (16/31 - as said: in comparission) with charge attack and both pack hunter AND herding, that with solid defensive stats (277 hp and 45 armor) and ok atk (17) it is a solid base combat unit for the late game which can also put down enemy range units.

"Solitude" (BECAUSE IT HAS LONER! HA! HAHA! LAUGH!!!!11)
Dragonfly + Anaconda (conda body and tail, rest including both legs from the dfly)
Tier 5 - 422C 615E
A giant flying loner which can drop onto you for a whopping 54 damage. Who needs barrier destroy anyway? Becareful though, since as it is a flyer it lacks in the defensive department (but it kills AA towers in only a few swoops anyway, so who gives a damn)

"Whalmer"
Sperm Whale + Lobster (head and tail of the SW, rest, including pincers of the lobster)
Tier 5 - 697C 255E
Back when IC originally came out this was lil purrfect's very favourite toy, and it still is and insanely strong beast, but the sheer amount of ressources makes every one of them count and you shouldn't use those against setups which have access to asssassination, since there is practically NO WAY that even if the assassin dies in the process the enemy wouldn't win out ressource-wise.
It's main selling points are 861 health and 56 def, making it a pain to deal with without gore moves, as well as having regeneration thanks to the lobster. On top of it Whalmer has access to the sonar pulse as well as barrier destroy, making it a great allround super-unit, its greatest weaknessess are its speed (10/23) and the comparatively low attack of 27 melee and 15 range, but since the sonar pulse allows it both to attack flyers, generally stagger units and on top of all that to hit multiple enemies at the same time, i think this is forgivable.

I hope you liked one or two of them, maybe even want to try them out. In any case if you have ideas what I should change here on my team, feel free to tell me. (I do not use these together in a single army, but every last one of them is always an option to be added, maybe I still need an early game defensive unit, though.)

Offensively wise in vanilla the best combination i used was Sperm Whale+Baboon=Whaloon.
it was not only big but very powerful especially in packs and it work very well with my Ravite Sharks (Raven+Great White Shark), 2nd best was my Gorobsters (Gorilla+lobster) small but deadly in groups

The PrayingMoon! Praying mantis and Baboon. Soooo good, level II unit. Baboon head and legs, the rest mantis. Great rushing unit, pack hunter and frenzy works great in numbers of 8 or more to overpower bases and other armies early on. Pretty decent costs too.

Cost is a factor.

Can't kick much ass when you are unable to make any creatures because your economy is in the toilet.
