Impossible Creatures

Any sequel to Impossible Creatures, "soon" ? Or game similar ? And Linux ?
Hello,

I played this game back when it was first released, and i loved it. Years later, i still can't believe there is no other game like this one. Are they some ? I know about Earth 2140-50-60, it's quite close in the spirit actually, but, the real animals mixed together gives a unique feeling...

Also, is the game playable on Linux (via Wine maybe) ? Will it be released to Linux beside Windows also ? And Mac ?

Thanks

Hi,
Our general rule is that every game that does well will be closely evaluated for a sequel. I think the Impossible Creatures mechanic is quite great and would do well in a modern RTS but first lets see how Impossible Creatures Steam Edition does for us.

As for Mac and Linux: No plans for a native port, sorry. Wine should be able to handle it quite well though.

Impossible Creatures is game from Relic Entertainment, LOL

Yes it is. As far as I know it was one of the pet projects from Relic founder Alex Garden.

By the way, where are you in the chain ?

If i'm right, it was Relic > THQ > Sega.

If i'm right, it was Relic > THQ > Sega.
When THQ went bankrupt it sold its intellectual properties to different companies.

Taken from wikipedia:

Big Huge Games sold to 38 Studios.

ValuSoft sold to Cosmi.

Relic Entertainment sold to Sega.

Volition sold to Deep Silver.

THQ Studio Montreal sold to Ubisoft.

Nordic Games announced that it had acquired the THQ trademark, allowing the studio to publish games under the THQ name

I need to go over to GOG and let people know its on steam. There are several thousand people who have been asking for it. I still have my old copy and it still works but I think I will buy this just so you guys know it is worth remaking and worthy of a sequal.:steamhappy:
I'd love a sequel with modern graphics, different environments, more creatures and so on. Would be willing to pay £40 for something like that,

Wine is a stopgap solution at best. It's also one that means no money from SteamOS sales.

I dont know if it was a mistake or not but Sega didnt include Impossible Creatures and The Outfit in their Relic transaction. So it was left there and we picked it up. About IC actually nobody knew about it, I remembered it though and checked the contract with Microsoft and saw a way out. So this is how we got Impossible Creatures.

Any chance we'll see a wine wrapped version on Steam? That's probably easier than an actual port.

of course I am sure your company would do its research. Can't determine the demand for a sequel purely based on sales of a slight remaster, since we know that is not the only factor involved here. But it certainly is one factor.

So essentially this was thrownaway as scrap?

Something tells me that they might have sequel in plans then or they are just that big fans to buy rights to this game.

Yeah, they might have 'plans' but if they actually do this depends on how well will this one do.
