If below answers doesn't help to resolver your issue, please switch to the beta branch, reproduce the problem and send your warnings.log file to devsupport AT nordicgames.at. Note that this file is overwritten every time the game is launched.

Please post solutions for other issues in this thread.

UNABLE TO CREATE A PROFILE

There are few solution that may help.

First
1. Run the game with Administrator priviliges

Second
1. Go to IC directory and delete any profiles in "profiles" folder, then start the game and create new.

Third
1. Delete the game / re-ints
2. Lunch the game ( not config.exe)

Fourth
1. Delete all IC files and folders(in steam app folder)
2. Re-install game
3. Turn off the IC's cloud file upload option
4. Run IC (don't run ICconfig.EXE now)
5. Create the profile and exit
6. Turn on cloud option and complete (run the game)

CAN'T MOVE MOUSE

You can fix it by setting the launch options.

-nohwcursor
or
-nohwcursor -noplatcursor

You can add this by entering game properties in the Steam game and click "SET LAUNCH OPTIONS"

MULTIPLAYER OPIONS ARE GREYED OUT

First, try to deactivate Antivirus/Firewall for IC.exe.

If it doesn't help try the following steps.

For windows 10:

1. Right click Start
2. Click Programs and Features
3. Click Turn Windows features on or off
4. Make sure there is a check in Legacy Components
5. Click the + to expand
6. Check the box for DirectPlay

For other systems try to reinstall Direct Play

NAT IS ALWAYS STRICT

NAT type is displayed in the game hosting/joining screen. Strict NAT can have impact on lag in multiplayer. Forwarding UDP port 23022 on the router should fix this.

Pls fix the op bugged fact that stink cloud can protect flyers from the air tower in Impossible Creatures. It ruines the multiplayer experience.

Why are there mission (Helicopter) where the AI got unlimit Coal. I have played for 2+ hours now and the pc do still attack and i gess i killed over 4000 enemys just by cave alone, i have run out of coal but they still keep comming.
My attacks failed corse non fair system letting them spawn creatures no end.

I raided there first place fast so they never got the coal of then walk side. leaving them whit about 2-3 pile, so in that kill cound 4000*about 100 means they got 400.000 coal from start or more.

My attack side alone killed over 300 vs 15+ what i say is not bad tactic.

You really only need a couple units to guard the cave. If I'm remembering correctly, they don't typically send anything too dangerous through it.

That mission really isn't very hard and is definitely nowhere near as "unfair" as you say. Just build some CCs on the other side of the volcano with your gyro. Make sure all your coal piles are staffed with two henchmen per pile.

You can change the name by editing "name.dat". 12 character limit.

i just installed the game today, have the issue with "unknown error" when creating profile, have tried re-installing, have unchecked the option for cloud, and have gotten rid of any "profiles" already in existance, so far nothing has worked, as well as the premade profile is no longer working for that link, just a "404" error, and i have tried running as administrator. so far no option has worked, would really love to able able to play the game, if someone has any updated answeres or fix, would be very much appreciated.

At first I didn't experience any problems running the game and was very pleased to play it again after all those years and finally have the insect invasion added to it. I recently found the tellurian mod and installed it, it worked very nicely.

But then yesterday I found some other mods which you needed to 'subscribe' for in steam, which I did, I believe it was a Tellurian adaptation(with giant octopus added) and a map pack. It was after that that I experienced the questionmark bug. I tried if Insect invasion was also having this problem, but there it was all fine, plus the new maps were available in insect invasion as well.

But I wanted to fix the questionmark stuff so I found the thread on steam with the instructions on how to fix it. Tried to follow it, by removing the remaining languages but they kept reappearing. Then I found another thread which explained how to work around it.

But Tellurian never disappeared from the mod selection. Also I tried running the game in the so called '-moddev' mode (which I am not sure I did correctly) But now the game doesn't work anymore at all. Once I select my profile in the start of the game menu it just says "Impossible Creatures: Please Wait" and then it quits running IC alltogether.

I am not the best with computers so it took me a lot of effort to try and fix it. And I am seriously disappointed I cannot play the game anymore at all. I would even have been fine with just switching back to Insect Invasion or the other version of Tellurian but I have no Idea how to restore that. I did unsubscribe for the mods that seemed to have caused the trouble but that didn't do much.

Please help me to play one of my favorite games again.

Does anyone know if it is possible to start the map 'mission' editor with one of the pre-made existing maps? I just want to tweak some starting locations and number of players for a few of them; nothing big.

You need to extract the contents of "engine.sga" with the ModPackager tool to access them. There's an intro to modding guide that explains how to do this in the Guides section.

Thanks for the quick response. I've tried going through them. I've used the ModPackager and made the files like the guide says. But whenever I try to 'open' the maps from the "scenarios\mp" folder I just get hit with an "IC Mission Editor" message saying "The selected file is outside of all known mods." This is without giving me the opportunity to do anything

You need to put them in Impossible Creatures\Data\Scenarios\MP. Then they will open.
