"Unknown Error" when creating profile.

I can't even start playing because I can't make a profile in the game due to the titular "Unknown Error" when I try to hit "accept". I've only installed the game, I haven't messed with any of the files or anything. This happens no matter which box I check when launching. Any help?

UNABLE TO CREATE A PROFILE

There are few solution that may help.

First
1. Run the game with Administrator priviliges

Second
1. Go to IC directory and delete any profiles in "profiles" folder, then start the game and create new.

Third
1. Delete the game / re-ints
2. Lunch the game ( not config.exe)

Fourth
1. Delete all IC files and folders(in steam app folder)
2. Re-install game
3. Turn off the IC's cloud file upload option
4. Run IC (don't run ICconfig.EXE now)
5. Create the profile and exit
6. Turn on cloud option and complete (run the game)

I had attempted 1 and 3 before. I've tried 2 and 4 since your comment and neither helped.

I thought about just asking for a blank profile, but didn't know if it would be frowned upon or something. Thank you for the help!

I'm having the same problem. I did try with no characters, and it tells me that at least 1 character is required. It doesn't appear to be installed anywhere either. Downloaded from Steam, but don't find it anywhere. New to Steam, so I'm not sure how this all works yet

Found the app in Program Files (x86)\ Steam. Option 2 in the FAQ's did the trick for me (delete existing profiles in the Profiles folder.

that's good too. although gog are much smaller and I'd rather support them too. However, 2.99 is hard to pass up! I think gog had it at 5.99 recently and I didn't bite.

copy.com seems to no longer work, can some kind person upload a new blank profile? I'm having the same bug.

Extract to <icroot>\Profiles. You can change the name by editing "name.dat" in Notepad (there's a 12 character limit).
