To anyone who is unsure whether or not they want the game, there is the official demo. It gives you access to 14 animals, 3 of the 15 campaign missions, and 2 skirmish maps.

If you buy the main game, you get loads more creatures (51 animals in the base game, 10 more in one of the free DLCs that comes with the Steam Edition, and 15 more in the other free DLC that comes with the Steam Edition), many more maps, many mods to choose from, and multiplayer.

The download is genuine, I have tested it.
