this game is older than i am and hasnt updated that i remember since i got it in like 2018

It was likely an update to a Workshop item you're subscribed to.

it seems they pushed the online beta into the main branch, the ingame "news" also lists that the patch fixes the korean localization bug and the workshop tools, i am on main and now have access to the new multiplayer servers, weird they didn't announce this at all

@MemoryOfAlessa and anybody who cares or might be able to help: as soon as Nordiq or whomever took over and made a beta, as soon as I subscribed to the beta, my game would fail to launch. So I would let other people host games on zerotier. Now that their beta has been pushed to be the default, my game won't launch at all. I uninstalled, re-installed. No go. I uninstalled, deleted all IC game files, re-installed. No go. Now I can't play IC even at all because launch aborts 2 seconds in.

them getting involved is the worst thing ever. did not help anything. only ruined everything for me.

Install Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable for your system language and see if that fixes it. Try verifying cache as well, as usual.
