Multiplayer LAN Play: How to
I tried searching for help with this, but I didn't find anything, so I decided to create a new thread.

To get Multiplayer LAN to work you have to use Internet TCP. LAN TCP/IP does NOT seem to work.

Select Multiplayer.
From the Protocols menu select Internet TCP.
The first host server should select HOST GAME.
Enter the desired game name and password if desired. Select DONE.
The host will now be in the JOIN GAME menu where the host can select the game options.
In the center of the screen next to the greyed out START GAME will be the server or HOST IP address.
Other users will need this IP to join the game.
On the guest players, select MULTIPLAYER.
Select INTERNET TCP from the Protocols menu.
Enter the IP address of the host obtained above and click JOIN GAME.

Troubleshooting:

LAN TCP/IP did not work for me at all under Windows 10 or 7 workstations.
Make sure IC is allowed through Windows firewall. In my case Steam or the IC install added it automatically.
Verify IC is allowed through your antivirus firewall if you use one.
Windows 10 users need to install DirectPlay through the Windows Add/Remove Features option.

Sorry if this is a repeat, but I didn't find anything about it and wanted to help others. This game is HUGE fun on a LAN!

Why would you need to use LAN when we have ICO though? Just make a private game.

Restricted or no internet access on some LAN PC's.
ICO Online may not always exist or work.
No need to set up an ICO online account.
Internet bandwidth or data cap limits.

LAN didn't work for us, but neither is the Internet option. It never seems to be able to connect to host server, and we're sitting right next to each other.
If this game won't work multiplayer, then eff it.

Use Internet TCP and get the IP address from the host.

IC doesn't always display the correct IP. Honestly, I've found it's a bit of a crapshoot. If what it's displayig begins with 192.168, etc. then it's not going to work. The best you can do is keep trying and hoping it displays correctly, or search "what's my IP" on Google, and hope it'll work without a port number.

Tried just going through ICO? Making an account takes less than a minute.

192.168.x.x is the correct subnet for LAN play, although you can also use 10.x.x.x or whatever class B subnet. IC should never give the same IP as "Whatismyip.,com". That is your public IP. Some newer PCs' may be using IPV6 for the local LAN. You may need to enable IPv4 protocol in your PC network settings if you have Windows 7 and up, but usually it is enabled by default. If you are having problems connecting, I would look to a firewall blocking it, either Windows Firewall or an antivirus security suite with a firewall. You computers should be plugged in to the same router.

"ICO may not always exist?" Explain what you mean.

Pretty much everyone who uses this version of the game exclusively plays multiplayer using ICO. If you are looking for the definitive multiplayer experience, you are clearly missing out by not creating an account

He means there's no guarantee Nordic won't take it down eventually, which is a fair point.
I tried making an IC account, but it said my email was already used

Then use a different one. You can use "ohguykjhg@jkfjdfkj.vpgy" and it won't make any difference to ICO.

Thank you very much. Now we can play! You are the best Notabiker!
