My favourite combination when I was a little kid and played it for the first time (hell that was long ago) and I still like to use: SPERM WHALE (head, tail) and LOBSTER (body).
I mean, ye costs 800+ coal per piece and i think like 500 electricity, but having Sonar Pulse, reg, that mean ranged AOE, barrier destroy and decent swim speed? Yessir!
Love live Whalmer Supreme. The one true lord.

Musk Ox with an Electric Eel head. Herding, good defense and health, relatively low cost. Dominates in large groups. I like to pair with a creature with Charge Attack or Leap Attack to defend against artillery.

Playing Tel 2.21, but creatures are from vanilla

But costs and stats differ a lot for most creatures. Pleases move to modded page

Musk Ox specifically is quite different in Tel.

One of my favorite combinations in 1.1 is Chimpotamus, or as I call him, good ol 'Bilbo'. Pack hunter and herding w. rock artillery, its fairly bulky with 272 hp and 45 defence, and its super cheap in the coal department for level 5's, only costing 264 pieces! I really do suggest you give Bilbo an honest try, you won't regret it!

I started using those in the campaign a couple years back. They're fantastic.

Chameleon hippos just like in the Upton Julius premade single handedly beat missions 8-15 of the campaign for me, as in they were literally the only units I built in all of those missions. Just turtle until level 5 and then spam them. Not as good as Babales for multiplayer, but for taking out mass numbers of towers and weak units like in the campaign, the regen combined with herding boosting to near max defense makes them last forever and are super efficient cost-wise. They can also hit towers on cliffs where Babales can't. Even once you get elephant I stick with the hippo combo to keep it amphibious. You don't even need melee units as you can use their camo to sneak up on artillery, making them near uncounterable by the computer.

Well they only added a handful of creatures in II and didn't change any stats so it's not really needed to state wether you play OG or II. Only if you play a different version you should state that.

Idk, not a fan of huge artillery groups, since if the enemy has leaper/charger they crash down on themselves. Saw that happening a few times, not a nice sight. I prefer aerial artillery or loner artillery.

Not necessarily a problem if you know to pull out your artillery units and send in melee and range to take out the problematic melee units.

My favorite creature is the Piranha and the cheetah(Head, tail) because it has an incredible speed and good melee damage in the start of the game

Try it with only cheetah legs on whole piranha, it only looses a small amount of landspeed, gets quite some sea speed and gains access to frenzy

Perks of 1.1: Frenzy is a passive ability (active regardless of body parts) xd

I could be wrong, but are you mixing that up with Pack Hunter?

(checked again in engine 1.1 insect invasion 1.4, the basic version of II in steam)

When I said 1.1 I meant the base mod of the game (listed on mod selection as "IC") otherwise known as Vanilla IC. In the base game both frenzy and pack hunter are inherent (thats the word I was trying to look for, got it mixed up with passive xd)
