Literally stuck in the jungle

I got to the part where I find the X on Dinky Island then I went back into the jungle before blowing up the concrete and now I can't get out of the jungle. I'm stuck in a loop I can't get back to the X or the beach or anything. Once in a while I see the Dolphin but that's about it..Is there any way to fix this without starting the whole game over again? I haven't saved for hours. I tried looking it up and found people with similar problems but no responses.

Isn't there a shortcut behind Herman Toothrot?

I gave up but, I can't leave the jungle. There is no way to get to anywhere that is outside the jungle. I can't get to Herman Toothrot because he is outside the jungle. I am in the jungle. Stuck. No exit. Endless loop.

Did you check GameFAQs? I know the jungle is a maze, similar to the lost woods in the Legend of Zelda, but there is a way back out of it. Check there, without the help of the parrot you'll just be running around in circles.

I talked to the parrot. I got out of the jungle and then I went back in after I had done everything that could be done in there and entered an endless loop. It's obviously a glitch. I found others who had the problem by searching the internet but there is no fix for it. I hadn't saved for most of the game so I gave up. I'd basically have to replay the whole thing now.
