No direct Download of Game?
Just purchased this game only to find out there is no direct download and I am forced to install Steam, and create Steam user accounts. So frustrating. I am on mac osx, game is windows only. I expected a direct download, port it with wineskin and play it on my mac pro. Seems Steam forces customers to only play games through their proprietary software, so game is unplayable for me.

Sent tech support a request for refund. If anyone knows any alternatives pls let me know.

When you buy a game via Steam, check for the Apple logo before purchase. Yes most Steam games require Steam to play (some don't have DRM, it's the choice of the publisher). Really, the problem isn't with Steam, but actually LucasArts/Disney for failing to release the game on OS X as originally promised.

Some possible options:

A - Buy the GameFly PC version[digital.gamefly.com] which can be run via Wineskin.

B - Use Wine to run the Windows version of Steam[www.speedofmac.com] on OS X.

C - Extract the classic edition[gratissaugen.de] and compile it to run in SCUMM VM on OS X (may need Windows to initially compile it, plus it won't be "Special Edition").

D - Boot into Windows on your Mac[www.apple.com] and run Steam for Windows. A bit cumbersome but it's the officially supported way to utilise your purchase.

Thanks for your reply xlynx. Yes, I saw Paul the Tall's vid on how to create a wineskin wrapper for the PC version, which is exactly what I thought I was buying here from steam Didn't realize it would not be a direct download.

Waiting to hear back from Steam tech support on a refund or a direct download...
