In-Game Hint System

The achievements seem to point to an in-game hint system. Anybody know how to activate these hints? Thanks.

As far as i know, the Hint system is on the "H" key.

Using hints or guides on a point and click game like Monkey Island, completely defeats the purpose of playing this kind of genre. Spoils the game and ruins the experience.

Monkey island is the less intuitive and most absurd point n click i've ever played, so yeah, use hits. People who completed this back in the day just tried everything with every item till something worked, that doesn't count as solving a puzzle by yourself im afraid, your brain didn't do any work to find a solution, just trial and error. The monkey wrench, the fight with Lechuck... what a way to ruin an otherwise fantastic game regarding ambience and charm.

The LucasArts early adventure games were intentionally made with very obscure puzzles and odd stuff like labyrinths. They were counting on making quite some extra revenue on the hintbooks and the hotline during these pre Internet days.

I always wondered how to activate the hint system
Not because I need hints (I have completed MI2 many times)

When I play point and click adventure games I try to have a 15 min. rule. If I didn't progress in any way in the last 15 min i use a hint/ look up a guide until I can continue. This rule greatly improves my playing experience.
