The Steam store page and the official website advertises that your engine runs on Linux and it is even promised in the FAQ on your website.
Of course there is demand and you must release a Linux version if you promise one, because Linux users may already have supported your game financially.

The browser version runs on Linux.

Most developers working on Oort right now are running linux. A big reason we're not releasing on steam for linux right now is we would need to work out all the technical details of packaging a steam version for linux that doesn't depend on people have version X.Y.Z of all the different libraries required to be installed etc.

I'd like to see it on linux as well. I bought the game and have been playing (via browser) on windows for the past couple months and am finally getting linux running on this same machine and it'd be great to play no matter which OS I happen to be on.

For now, the browser will work. Thanks for all the work guys!

You can play the game on Linus right now if you make the purchase through oortonline.com and then use a browser to access the game. The technology allows us to support Linux but Windows and Mac were are priorities for the Steam release.

We actually have linux builds working (I'm developing in Ubuntu) but we haven't yet got round to installing linux builds through steam.

What I read was that there are only rentable server (probably only through Turbulenz?) available. "Self-hosting" would be awesome of course.
+1 for Linux
