Is this game more like minecraft or portal knights ?
Minecraft being "Open world spawn you somewhere random figure out what to do, 0 objectives just use imagination"

Portal knights being "Objective oriented game with story / boss fights / progression"

so does this have those or is it just another open world craft survive bait

You can also go it alone if you want, there's absolutely zero requirement to actively partake in the community ... however I think most people end up doing so.

I'm a self-confessed hermit and even I speak genially with folks!

This is more like minecraft with inter-connected worlds. Each world has their own resources/biomes. You create your own story as there is no RPG quests/storyline. Its not really a survival bait game. Just a gather/collect/craft/collaborate game. If you don't like laid back non PvP type games, this is not for you.

For the price...you can easily get in with a guild and enjoy the game. There are players with over 300+ hours in game and $5.99 is a steal tbh.
ah thanks for the response

i wont be getting it as I am really not the type to play games that has no quests/feeling of advancements, i hate pvp i just want more rpg-like stuff

There definitely are quests in the game, but not story based ones. Plus the lore is obfuscated at best, or in other words ... just a new language and that's it, really.

I think you're maybe making the right decision for you ... however, I will say:
This is more like Lego for me ... it's a zen thing ... I get lost making problems for myself (I build small) which makes my builds interesting for me ... and they take me months/years ... because I don't play the game 24/7.

It's a game that you can always easily just pick up and play on anything (seriously, I ran it on a UHD 620 laptop for 4 months) which makes it great for filling time, and / or when one is at a loss for something to do.

Anyway, yeah, fair well, Razzle, shame it's not for ya ... but have a goodn'. :-)

Yea then voxel's are not your type of game **Yet**. Hytale (more minecraft like), Portal Knights MMO, and Endless Online (MMO- Only a project name atm) are the few that are aimed for more RPG elements that I am aware of in this area.

Last official update was Dec 28, '2020: https://forum.playboundless.com/t/testing-249-melee-weapons-shields-and-local-universes/53886

then the devs go silent until Aug 12, `2020 after months of active players demanding to know why the update hasnt dropped and why the devs are no where to be found with this reply:

There are some incomplete changes in the next update that need to be completed before it can be released. At the moment we’re struggling to make sufficient time to complete the work.

But we do continue to maintain the game and live servers. Fixing issues that appear where possible. Manage the service. Respond to queries and issues where possible about the current game.

You may not need updates to enjoy playing a game, but some people require community, which is the point of playing a "mmo" otherwise some people are better off just playing on a minecraft server.. with actual people and content that gets updated.

You wont be able to do the top tier stuff with out a community of players, Specifically meteor hunting on higher tier worlds.

If you play a mmo for online community this isnt it, its a sad shell of the game it use to be where you explore the ruins of all the other players that have quit.

Just go check out their forums for a real pulse on the game https://forum.playboundless.com

I would still recommend buying it at the current sale price 85%off because thats a steal and there is no sub, just dont get your hopes up

I can do meteor hunting on higher tier worlds. Its all in how you set up your skills and your equipment. The worst thing you can do is stand in one place.

Hehe, tell that to the people that I often see hanging around at the sides of hunts. 😉

((( that's not a jab ... i say live and let live )))
