A Game About Digging A Hole

why people hate so much the ending?
i don't get it, you dig a hole for 99,98% of the game, then you have this funny silly ending, you just run towards the treasure, the moles are not a problem, you just run towards the exit when they are turned around... and than a clever ending with a funny twist... ... why people in reviews hate the end so much?

I didn't mind the story and the ending. I was there for digging, a little story is just a bonus, why not?
But I didn't thought the gameplay would get to casual, relaxing, digging game to an actual scary stealth mission. Yes, it was easy, yes, you can just run, but I hated it. I thought I would dig a hole for hours without ever reaching the end, not finishing it in an hour and getting chased by giant moles..
I liked the ending.

You don't own the game. Did you pirate it, or did you actually refund a 5€ indie game after finishing it? Dude...
I got super excited because I thought I was entering the 'next level' of the game. I thought I was going to get to fight them and that it was the start of a whole new type of gameplay. But when one of them got near me, the screen just cut to death. It didn't even touch me. So no fighting. fine. but at least it is the start of a whole new area filled with new challenges and things to do? nope. just run through a couple rooms and then game over.

it was a bad ending because it got my hopes up and then let me down. Worse, it seemed to taunt me by acknowledging that it KNEW it was disappointing me by giving me nothing in the chest. look you finally reached the good part....haha it's actually nothing!

First and hope last time I get a refund, ended it in like an hour, hated the end, and will never play it again

the game was made by the dev whilst on holiday im surprised it even has a ending lmao

Why does this game even exist?

Honestly? This wasn’t even planned.

Our artist, who primarily works on Solarpunk, came up with this idea during their vacation. Instead of relaxing, they developed an entire game in just 14 days – entirely in their spare time.
Great fun with a surprise ending. Excellent work from the holidaying developer...
Good value game, and I didn't experience a single glitch.

Thanks

Then how come you have 3.4h on the game?

It just felt like a let down imo. The end of a game about digging a big hole doesn't have any digging
DIdnt hate - but was kinda sad- got the end for me at least too early. Enyoejed the game too much. Wanted to dig the whole neighnourhood too- maybe dig the whole world ...

It stayed open while I was eating and got lost on YouTube. I usually don't close my games when I know I will get back to them later. I'm I the only one who do that..?

I was just curious, because refunds are only allowed up to 2 hours of playtime. Then I guess you must have requested the refund, but left the game running while the refund was not yet approved. Didn't know that was possible.

The 2 hour window is just for a guarantee. They can and rarely will sometimes refund if a game goes outside that window

I don't hate the ending. If anything, the entire premise of purchasing a $10,000 home with the promise of buried treasure was already absurd enough.

IRL, this sort of thing would be too good to be true.
But here, it's more like, "Do you wanna play the game or not?"

To be fair, I had a feeling that this was a horror game going in, as I had little to no information about the game before hand. Not to mention I had this feeling of subtle dread the further I dug down. Or rather, that feeling of "I digging up something that should be left well enough alone, but who cares?! Free Money!!"

Also, my OCD kicked in, and I basically excavated the entire backyard. No ore unturned.
i didnt hate the ending so much as it felt like a weird twist that doesn't really belong in the game. it was still fun and i still enjoyed the game. just wish there was more stuff or a few different maps to play on.
..stealth? You just run past them, I didn't even retry just oh, take tunnels at random there's the chest. I didn't mind it, but did hope there was a little more story, or mechanics. Has potential though and the studio/development time is absolutely a factor to give it a pass. As far as quick games popped out it's in the top 1% compared to most crap out there.
Would definitely approve of an expanded version.
I didn't go into it expecting like Outer Wilds best game of all time levels of discovery.
