What a dumb take, if this was a story driven game or movie then I could understand your complaint but there is basically little to no story outside the ending. Does the ending being a bit random and coming out of left field change the overall game play experience? No, not at all.
Disclaimer - I've not played the game, I'm only going by what people are commenting on about this one.

But I've played plenty of games which were decent, but had terrible endings which soured the entire experience. And my point was how dumb the initial analogy was, and how criticizing people for not liking a sudden, unadvertised tonal shift is idiocy.

too late... ;) you should have put the disclaimer in your OP... lol... now NO ONE will ever beleive you and even if they check your library ... even if its a hidden game, people can see hidden games now ;) ... and also, if its not in your library they will think you pirated ;)

if any of this is true (you have not played) then you should have been honest from the start like i was ... where i imply *my friend doesn't like steam discussions so asked me to post for him...*

lol

now.... No one will eve believe you... WOOPSY!

The option to toggle on/off the horror is something that can be added.

Because the developers didn't want to make that game, they wanted to make this one. If this game isn't what you want it to be then move along.

yeah take any game design psychology class and you learn about reward systems.

This system takes out all rewards at the end and just tricks the player. If you liked the ending, its not because you liked the ending, its because you think being edgy is cool. Nobody likes a product like this where you are given a goal and a prize but then at the end they are stripped from you. You feel like you achieved nothing and they stole your time.

I'm just ignoring that was the end and that i got the gold and its a good game then. $10 says the next game these devs make will not have a crappy ending like this cause of all the crap they've received and sales they missed out on cause of it.

No, I actually thought the ending was refreshing and that the game was well paced for a $5 2 week long indie project. I can't think of a better ending than this, honestly, and I'm not "edgy".

The idea that your prize and your time was "stolen" from you is so far from the reality of gaming I don't even know where to start. I'm guessing you don't like rogue likes?

Personally, I only play games where if your character dies you can delete all the saves and start from scratch, It's not like you're going to put all of your gaming achievements on your resume, you enjoy the ride, and move on with your unremarkable life. I liked the ending, it was funny. What would've made a better ending, a "good job, you mined all the ores!"? What fundamental difference would that have made?

I heard the growling at the end of the trailer and I was like nah i'm good lol
I thought it was a chill game where you're digging down and discover chests, secrets, etc, why force some sort of monster for no reason?

Guessing its like SkiFree where eventually all good things must come to an end. e.g. yeti at the finish line

The game itself was awesome, loved playing through it. But the ending was pretty lame IMO.

Game was still well worth playing, and the devs deserve praise for making something fun and unique. I just didn't care for how they ended it.

After a while, digging became repetitive and boring. I was only continuing because I was interested in what stuff would be at the end—what secrets I would find. But then it came to that. No, thank you. If you enjoyed it, I am happy for you, but the game became a big disappointment for me.

makes, sense, I beat the game in 8 minutes on my fastest time but does your "friend" know that they can sprint? the moles can't get to you if you sprint.

how the hell did you beat it in 8 minutes

Honestly I don't even mind if the game has an ending, but yeah the horror stuff out of nowhere completely kills it. All the upgrades you've been working towards getting end up totally useless, and the game goes from one thing to another entirely in a matter of seconds.

What would be the point of it being endless? By the point you reach the end you have already experienced everything. If you have nothing to do than dig out the whole map.

Imagine PowerWash Simulator but with this game. More gardens, more tools, more upgrades, more ores, more unlocks, more achievements.

I can see an endless mode working. Maybe with a special rare ore which is for new item/tool-skins as a motivation. And this endless garden is a combination out of all the gardens from the main game. (If it had more like I just suggested).

In endless mode you'd be able to aquire a teleporter which can be refilled like your drill.

I think I can come up with more if I put in more time thinking about it.

Tbh, it is pretty unsatisfying for your reward for surviving the moles is that you don't survive the moles. My main issue is that they disable your abilities to ensure that you don't survive. I could not use my jetpack in the endgame area and apparently, you can't use the teleporter to escape the ambush. Makes the ending feel very contrived.

This is exactly how I felt. Why can I not use my dynamite? Why can I not use my jetpack? Especially why can I not escape with the teleporter? Why do you even give it to us when it creates this ridiculously stupid plot hole just to make the ending twist.

We have all the tools to both fight and escape but we're forbidden to use them because...???

Exactly why I was glad it ended when it did, it didn't outstay it's welcome
