Story inspired by "Vivarium"

There is a movie called "Vivarium", with a very similar story-premise.
I was wondering: Has the dev ever made a statement regarding their inspiration?
I'm asking, because the similarities are very overt.

I do know Motherload was an inspiration.

I see the reference too. Especially at the end when the truck comes in and just casually leaves house for sale. The hole we are digging is a grave for us and the owner knows what is at the bottom...
