Not every game needs multiplayer. This is better without.

You can always choose to play it singleplayer. No reason to deny others what they want because you wouldn't like it.

There, actually, is a reason. I remember the dark era of game industry (beginning of 2010-s), when EVERY developer thought they should add multiplayer in EVERY game. Like Dead Space 2, Far Cry 3, Spec Ops: The Line, tons of them. As a result:
1) Developers wasted time on multiplayer, which will play 3,5 players, instead of adding content and polishing main game.
2) Some of these games were connected to servers/launchers/other online demanding ♥♥♥♥, so now we can not get access even to single player mode of bunch of these games without some fan patches or ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ with ini files.
3) These games almost always have mp achievements. So now you can not get 100% in these games, even if you have a bunch of friends ready to help you, cause servers are long time dead, lol.

So please, keep your multiplayer mode far ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ away from single player games, which don't need it, cause yes, I wouldn't like it and yes, I have reasons. If you want to dig holes with friends, go to DRG, it was created for it.

Multiplayer is not needed. Too much extra code added into a game that is less than 2 hours long is a ton of extra work for devs for no real benefit. Multiplayer is one of the more annoying features to code into games and it actually takes a really long time to get working. Not to mention the amount of bugs it usually creates.

Just because you don't like it doesn't mean others don't. The one thing preventing many peeps from playing this is the fact it doesn't have anyway to mindlessly dig with friends. All we want is to brainlessly dig a hole with friends >:(
(DRG does **not** do this.)

Praying that some fans make it a thing.

p.s. All you're doing is fearmongering about ♥♥♥♥♥♥ dev decisions to make a single player mode only work with online connection

As long as they don't try to alter balance, multiplayer would be cool.
Though IMO, the back yard is too small.
About double the size would allow for far more exploration (just add 20-25% in all directions).
No.

Just because YOU want everything to have multiplayer, does not mean everything should have multiplayer.

this game has less than an hour of actual gameplay, in one plot. Realistically please tell me what you would do in multiplayer... get bored 5 minutes in and play something else? Because the game lacks any actual depth that would make multiplayer even worth anything?

ehhhhhh,

1) nah. devs that added multiplayer didnt do so at the sacrifice of other content, you got the content they were going to do.

2) again, this is just another blaming one thing for something else. Online only requirements have nothing to do with them being multiplayer, which is why so many singleplayer games require it. Its a form of DRM, its a form of data acquisition, its them wanting you to be on their servers. Remeber, there was a time when no game required always online except MMO's. we use to have dedicated servers, and lan mode.

In fact if you really want to look into the past, before the so called dark ages you say, it was insanely common for nearly every game to support some level of multiplayer, and none of them used custom launchers or online requirements.

3) i would guess this is an extremely minor set of games that require this, but otherwise, not doing something because of a little bit of text that pats you on the back for doing nothing special is a really weak argument for not implementing a feature.

i get it, you dont care about mp, and thats fine, but each of your points is just you yelling at clouds.

Resources spent on one thing can't be spent on another thing. Multiplayer requires lots of extra code, especially lots of reworking if your game wasn't built for it initially. Lots of extra debugging etc. Just eating up dev time.

Can a big AAA dev with 300 team members or w/e maybe do that without it costing the addition of other features? Maybe, but I doubt it even then. A small game like this? If the dev works on MP, he can't work on other things

Also yes, make it multiplayer. Also idle game autoplay with crypto integration please
