lost all digging progress but nothing else is lost?

I spent hours the other day digging out as much as i could of the lot, but when i just reloaded my game, i came back to the patch of grass you start with, with the x. nothing was dug at all. but all my other progress was the same, like my tools are still almost maxed out and i still have 800$, is the game just not able to save that much digging? cause when i start digging again the ores are not there as if i did dig, but its kind of frustrating....

update - i was able to fix the glitch by restarting my computer then restarting the game, it now shows up as having been dug
