FPS drop issue
Alright I don't normally do this but now this has become unbearable. I just bought this game on steam during the sale and it has an annoying issue... In the menus and during the game, every 15 seconds or so, the game will freeze/speed up four times in succession then return back to normal (which runs perfectly otherwise). I have tried just about everything to get it to stop including: Using an outside program to window it, exiting every non vital process, disabling DEP, defraging hard drive, verifying files, changing in game settings, changing compatibility settings, checking heat levels, among others. I don't understand why it is doing this; of course this game also has to have lousy support from the developer. To help things along I'll post my specs:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo 6700
Memory: 4 GB Corsair Dominator
GPU: EVGA 9800 GT 1 GB Memory
HD: 1 TB SATA
Motherboard: ASUS P5Q-EM DO
PSU: Corsair 700 Watt supply
OS: Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit

And yes I know some of my components are dated.

ill be honest the components are dated

To solve this problem buy a high end computer, it solves everything
If you can't afford it save up, I had bad PC in past, upgraded, boom! no more issues ^^

Really?... I need a high end computer just to play Lego Star Wars?.. Considering I easily beat the recommended specs and that I'm not having any issue in any other game I'm pretty sure it's not the hardware.. Especially when I can play other games like Crysis, Fallout New Vegas, Mass Effect 3, Deus Ex: HR just fine.

Well at least I know it's not just me. So it's the software then? Maybe a driver issue?

for me the lag spikes get less when I disable all ingame "cheats", like the 10 times multiplyer etc.

Hmm, I don't even have any ingame cheats enabled whatsoever and it still lags. In fact it even does it in the menus before I even start the game.

i have no cheats and i just started a new game and i have frame drops as well

GTX Titain Z 12gb (6gb per GPU) its a 2 in 1
Intel i7 4790k @ 4.0ghz watercooled
32GB RAM @ 1600 mhz
win 8.1 PRO 64bit
Asus Z97 AR board
enermax 1500 watt PSU
1tb WD HDD @ 7200 rpm (x2) <the game is on one of these
1tb Samsung evo 840 (x2)
all hardware is stock and i can play GTA 5 at max with no lag at 1080p 60fps but why does this game stay at 50 and dip down to 30 once in a while ... is there a fix ?

When having FPS issues, you need to turn V-sync on either using nVidia control panel or in game video settings.

Having this problem as well. I can't believe the number of people who have brought this up with absolutely no helpful information forthcoming. It's incredibly frustrating. The machine I'm trying to run it on is very similar to yours, Doggleman, and I have the same problem. It runs smooth, then freezes up a few times and runs okay again. I don't really consider it a frame drop so much as a straight up freeze. It's not like FPS drops from 60 to 10; it drops to 0. It happens no matter what is going on: during gameplay, on the start menu, heck even the pause menu. I tried switching to XP compatibility mode and that didn't help.

Okay, I think I've figured out the issue, and I hope anyone else that comes along will benefit from this. On my machine, I had an OLD Logitech dual action controller with a bad cord. It kept disconnecting and reconnecting from the machine. It seems like this game absolutely sucks at holding onto enough resources to keep running smoothly. Anything else taking the PC's attention for a second causes the stuttering. Once I got rid of that bad controller and connected a new one, the stuttering disappeared. So just check to see if you've got anything going on that is taking processor cycles semi-regularly and kill it.

Same problem. I have a new build asus h170 mobo, gtx 950 gpu, intel i5 6500 3.2 ghz, 1 tb WD HD, tunnel ethernet, using Norton antivirus (I did try disabling it, but problem persisted), Windows 10 Pro (But I have a second computer running Windows 10 and it runs perfectly, so it can't be the OS in and of itself (of course, it still may be a contributing factor consider a different set-up)...I tried everything everyone else has tried plus a few things I came up with myself (like changing 3d option in gpu control panel (I tried literally 50-75 different options (each time reverting back until switching another option and running the game.) Nothing works.. I dunno.
See also (for the same problem, just worded differently):
