Game won't start
When i try to load up the game it's just a black screen, when i load up task manager it says the application is not responding. I tried messing with the compatibility but nothing is working. Would be nice to hear some suggestions!

Win 10 has a troubleshooter along with the compatibility settings if you haven't already tried that.
Also, try checking your computer sound settings, change them to 16Bit 44100Hz. Some people found that had stopped the game from starting.

Hope this helps :)

I have the same issue. Did you fix it? Greetings.

The real fix has nothing to do with anything anyone is recommending, the real fix is to not run it in 2160x1440, you have to run it max at 1920x1080 res for the game to work. Nothing to do with compatibility.

How do I run it in those settings?

You have to adjust your display settings on your PC, which you have to do in Windows settings, not Steam.

Tried everything above and not working.

Also tried all of this:
- compatibility mode for all versions of windows
- run as admin
- installed all DirectX versions
- installed all C++ versions
- launching windowed in DxWnd
- going into pcconfig file and setting it to native screen res

Nothing works.

did you ever get it working?

I had to manually set the resolution to 1920x1080 in the ppconfig.txt file before it worked
(C:\Users\...\AppData\Local\LucasArts\LEGO Star Wars - The Complete Saga).

Well tbh that didn't work right away either.
I turned my antivirus off, all of a sudden it started.
I turned my antivirus back on. Game still worked. All weird stuff.

Tried reverting back to the original ppconfig, but then the game wouldn't start anymore.

So ya, changing the resolution seemed necessary for me... and all the rest I can't explain.

My game ran fine for a few days with 1920x1080 until today, i got the black screen problem as well. Dont know why its doing this since it ran fine just yesterday.

I had this problem today (yesterday the game worked well) and I resolveded with the program DxWnd to force the game to play in windowed mode. I hope this might be helpful.

I had this same issue on my computer. Everyone's responses helped. These are the exact steps that worked for me compiled from this thread:

Fix for LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga Not Launching (Black Screen Issue)

1️⃣ Edit the pcconfig.txt File

1. Go to:
C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\AppData\Local\LucasArts\LEGO Star Wars - The Complete Saga

2. Open pcconfig.txt with Notepad.

3. Change these lines:

ScreenWidth 1920
ScreenHeight 1080
WindowWidth 1920
WindowHeight 1080
Widescreen 1

4. Save the file and close Notepad.

2️⃣ Set Steam Launch Options

1. Open Steam.

2. Go to Library → Right-click the game → Properties.

3. In Launch Options, enter:

-windowed -width 1920 -height 1080

4. Close the settings.

3️⃣ Launch the Game

Try running the game—it should now start without the black screen issue! 🎮

you can just use launch options to force the game to run at the resolution and rendering mode you prefer lol

also, this game can work fine in fullscreen mode

Yeah, it helped me with the edit of the pcconfig.txt file. No need for more tweaks for me. Thank you very much for the tips.
