Stuck in co-op
I tried Remote Play with a friend and since then I can't play the game on my own because the game thinks there's another person, I can get player 2 to drop out by using the keyboard or controller depending on which one is player 1 or 2, but then after any press of a button the 2nd player joins back in to the game again.

I've disabled Remote Play since then and it's still the same.

Have you tried changing the controller device of the second player? If both players on remote play were using, for instance, an Xbox 360 controller, then perhaps it's now trying to use the same controller for both players.

By changing Player 2's controller to a different device you can ensure that the game is actually using different controllers for both players.

Yeah, I set player 2 to keyboard and dropped out using player 2 controls but as soon as I press a button on my controller player 2 jumps back in

What about unplugging the controller and just using the keyboard? If you only have one input device available, does it still activate both players or just player 1?

Tangentially related: this other post caught my eye where someone seems to be having the exact opposite issue: they want to activate player 2 but can't. On that thread, the solution was:

It's a bit of a stab in the dark, but since both issues are related to the activation of Player 2, you may be able to fix the issue with a launch argument. Try this at your own risk; I can't confirm right now whether it works.

The thread I referenced: https://steamcommunity.com/app/32440/discussions/0/1660068911657657060/

If I do find a more concrete solution, I'll come back and share it. But since I haven't encountered the issue myself, I can't offer much more than speculation.

It doesn't do it without the controller plugged in, but when I plug it back in it does the same thing

Hey guys, not sure if a solution has been found yet, but I found an easy method
if you just look up hidhide, it pops up a site and i think its like a branch of ds4 or something not sure, but make sure you have DS4 windows installed for this... Okay so just donwload hidhide, and check on your controller (not the DS4 emulated one) and then at the bottom check on enable device hiding then it should work

This works as long as you enter the game before you click the hide device box
