Probably the worst instance of this is level 5 of Episode IV, on the Death Star, where there are two doors whence Stormtroopers come which can be closed temporarily, and you have to build something while the doors are closed to avoid being shot.
If you have quick enough reactions you can release the Special button partway through building whenever an enemy shoots, deflect the shot by pressing the Action button, then quickly resume building. If you deflect the shot fast enough, the building will not have fully reset and you can resume building from partway through and gradually work your way through it.
Alternatively you could get a second player to drop in (or even just activate Player 2 and control both simultaneously yourself) and use Luke to fend off the raiders as they come.
I will also try to block with the lightsaber and partially resume building, but I am finding that by using the jedi I am getting hit more than by using the other characters which should be the exact opposite. Jedi are supposed to be the cream of the crop. I'm finding either I am just swinging and then blocking after the fact or I hold it and either walk extremely slowly or stand still while doing it instead of mowing people down like I should. There should of been a dedicated block or parry button as well. I understand it was for ease of simplicity, but it does not work for me.
And I am not new to gaming. I did fairly well in Jedi Knight series even online against others and Battlefront. Just these parts are frustrating to me in Legos. ^^! Thanks for the suggestions though.
I am on that level now, inside the hanger where the Falcon is behind/under the red force field. I can raise it about three times, but I think I need one more to get it to floor level. I notice there is a door with a camera for Stormtroopers on it so I ran all the way back several sections to get to the nearest Stormtropper hat (moving elevator) and on my way back got shot by a whole platoon of Troopers by surprise as I rounded a corner and had to run back again to retrieve another hat.
This time I was ready for them and shot them well in advance and did not lose the hat. Turned a blind corner and a Trooper was waiting for me and instantly lost the hat again and had to run back. Now I'm being chased by a whole squad. Even though I have a team of five the Troopers are ONLY attacking me. Very frustrating. I am either going to get the hat again on a humanoid and then walk around like an android and hopefully my people wearing the hats do not get shot or I am going to see if that door even opens on it's own to let Stormtroopers into the hanger and just sneak in there, which I am assuming I need to go. Before when I had the hat no one gets attacked. Now it is a free for all. o_O
You have unlimited lives, but trying to get at least True Jedi on your first run can be very frustrating. I usually rage quit and that rarely ever happens in a game, even online games. So much for a relaxing game. ^^! Then when you quit in Story Mode you get to keep exactly NOTHING and even the lego movies can not be fast forwarded I guess because it assumes it is your first time watching it. So you just keep watching it.
That expression that Han Solo has on his face as they fall into the trash compactor and land in waist deep water and then Luke comes and splashes in the water smiling and playing and even punching Han in the shoulder? That's my look of annoyance with this game. ^^!
2) Go to the rightmost side of the hangar and use the R2-D2 panel.
3) Just next to that panel, push the pushable object (maybe you have to break it too) and build the grapple pad which becomes available. Grapple up to the top and pull that lever.
4) Somewhere (I believe it's in the leftmost area) there is a vehicle. Use the vehicle to drive across all three red panels in the center of the room.
These steps should get the Falcon up to the floor's level and open the level exit.
Yea I found that out right after I posted as I had decided to play it again. I had done all sorts of things to that crane (?) and nothing happened before. I had some how began to "try" to push it from the right hand side and then got on the other side of it and actually pushed it so I could get the grapple hook thing.
That part with the Stormtrooper door gave me some kind of giant trophy looking thing that did nothing for me. ^^!
