PS2 controller support?
If i were to buy a PS2 controller adapter would this game support that or would i need a third party program for that to work?

No, this game only supports Xbox 360 controllers for PC by default.

You would need a program like Input Mapper.

It will work. I have tried it once for fun and it did work

It does seem to use ps3 controllers too, my old controller works. it was a cheap controller with ps2 look for 10 eur so if your controller is made for pc it will probably work too
