Menu "click" sound plays in-game, also wrong music track plays, Ep IV ch 2-3
In chapter IV-2 (The Jundland Wastes), in the area just outside the Jawa Sandcrawler, I hear the same "click" sound that plays when pausing the game or making a menu selection, about every 5 seconds. The same issue is present in the first stage of IV-3 (Mos Eisley Spaceport), and in the same stage, the "action" music track begins playing, fades out to the "ambience" track, then fades back into "action" repeatedly. The music rested in its "ambience" state after aggro'ing the patrolling Sandtrooper, (who runs down to get backup from a building by the start location) and killing him & his allies. The clicking issue was present after a reboot. I'll continue to troubleshoot while my patience lasts, and I'll update if I find a fix or more useful information.

;; Dummy sample to occupy Slot 0 (to avoid uninitialised sound IDs playing the first sample in the list) Sample name "SFX_NULL" fname "DoesNotExist" volume 0 GLOBAL NODUCK

Apparantly the default sound is Slot 0 (AKA the first Sample which in TCS is the MenuSelect sound) and so if you just add a dummy to Slot0 it just skips it (so in this case the Jawa plays slot0 for whatever reason)

I haven't tested it but this seems to be the issue and possibly the solution. Hope this reaches you after all these years

UPDATE: In regards to the clicking sound - it seems to be eminating from the Jawas themselves. My guess is that one of the Jawa's sounds was accidentally replaced by the menu click and nobody noticed. In [Steam\...\Lego Star Wars Saga\Audio] there's a config file called AUDIO.CFG. The Jawas' audio settings are specified in lines 1312-1322. There are parameters for "pitch", "pitch_rnd", "volume", and "volume_rnd". The 'click' sound seems to play at least once every minute, so I'm going to try muting each of these sounds individually by setting the volume parameter to 0, and listening for the click. Will update afterwards with results of the test.

The config file didn't actually change anything, so I've found a way of extracting the .DAT archives to look through the sounds manually. The Jawas were, to my surprise, not the culprit. HOWEVER, the sound DEFINITELY is coming from the Jawas. In free play, I hear it in ANY level when playing as a Jawa, but ONLY when playing as a Jawa.

Also happening to me. Killed only Jawa in room, click sounds stopped. I played the Wii version a long time back and I feel like the same problem may had been present there, too.

Glad to hear it's not just me. I've pretty much given up on finding a solution. Damn shame, though. I'm 99% sure this bug wasn't present in LSW2. I replayed the demo level (which had jawas) countless times while waiting for the game to release, and I don't remember this happening. Although, to be fair, I was like 5 years old at the time, so I probably just didn't care.

I'm not the only one? Good. I tried messing with it myself and haven't fixed it yet. Would it be possible to edit the .dat file to replace or remove the part that's causing the clicks to occur?

Well, it's almost certainly possible... Problem is, I haven't the faintest idea how to go about it.

I have a slight amount of experience with editing .dat files so if I figure anything out I'll post a solution here.

1) Here's the link to the thing I used for extracting the .dat archives http://aluigi.altervista.org/quickbms.htm
2) I didn't recognise your name when I saw the friend request, and clicked ignore. I've sent one back your way.

Does that happen with literally everyone?

Its happening to me in the same places/same ways, I thought I was going crazy. Was there ever a solution found?

I'm afraid not. I eventually just went on eBay and found copies of LSW1 and LSW2 instead. Those two games do not have these issues.

I do believe, however, that if someone who knows the language the game is written in were to try, a mod could be made to fix it. Unfortunately I don't have the know-how, and I also have a feeling it's against the EULA (though I can't be bothered to actually check.)
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

I just tested it and that seems to do the trick! Thanks for taking the time to answer such an old post!

How do you make the dummy sample? Would really appreciate a quick guide on how to do it.
