No. Never found a solution to this problem. So I ended up uninstalling and crying into my pillow for a week.
I had completely forgot about it until I saw these notifications - now I am back in the quagmire of depression again...
I have the DVD version of the game, so there might be some differences, but I encountered the same problem, and I managed to fix it after a while. The DVD version has launcher for the game; if there is set that you play with XBOX 360 controller, it will totally disable your mouse and keyboard, and so it uses controller only. So what I suggest is go through your files and try find is there launcher for the game, and in the launcher, try to change the input device from controller to mouse and keyboard.
I hope this fixes the issue. :)
Someone calling Valve out for their anti-consumer nonsense instead of simping over low prices (that aren't available to everyone because of region ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥)?
MORE OF THIS STUFF PLEASE, INTERNET.
MUCH, MUCH, MUCH MORE.
