Mouse and Keyboard not working at all once game launched
Just like the title says - once I hit 'play' on Steam, the game loads, I select my input device (keyboard and mouse) and load the game - it runs through the intro screens and I get to the main menu and nothing works. No cursor, no moving via arrows or other keys. Enter doesn't work. If I hit shift+tab, it gives me the steam menu and I can ctrl+alt+del as well - so clearly my keyboard and mouse are active and working, the game just seems to not recognize.

I have tried by removing my USB/Bluetooth mouse too and using trackpad only. No go.

My computer is more than capable of running this game - is this a Windows 8 issue?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

Did you ever find a fix for this? I just downloaded this morning and I haven't figured this out as of yet.

I have played this game on windows 7 and 10 both 64-bit and not had your problem. I would assume windows 8 would be fine but I have never tried it. :Rubber_Duck:

Sorry for the delay in responding.

No. Never found a solution to this problem. So I ended up uninstalling and crying into my pillow for a week.

I had completely forgot about it until I saw these notifications - now I am back in the quagmire of depression again...

I bought this game from the App Store, but I always lost my last savestate when reinstalling the OS, so I never finished it. On that version I had no problems with the keyboard. But the Steam version somehow doesn't recognize my UP and DOWN arrow keys, so I can't load saved games or upgrade my force combos. LEFT and RIGHT arrow keys work. All other games recognize my arrow keys just fine, I wonder what weird bug that might be.

its an issue with games that are console ports normaly, not saying its the issue here, more a generalisation, last time I had the issue in another game selecting another control method, accepting it, then closing game down, restarting then changing control method to keyboard/mouse worked to clear bug, worth a try I guess.

rebooting fixed it. Go figure…

Bought this game on disc, no problem. HOWEVER, try to disable the steam overlay. It's known to mess things up in some games.

Hello!

I have the DVD version of the game, so there might be some differences, but I encountered the same problem, and I managed to fix it after a while. The DVD version has launcher for the game; if there is set that you play with XBOX 360 controller, it will totally disable your mouse and keyboard, and so it uses controller only. So what I suggest is go through your files and try find is there launcher for the game, and in the launcher, try to change the input device from controller to mouse and keyboard.

I hope this fixes the issue. :)

Use a Xbox 360 controller. I played it with mouse+ keyboard. I would not recommend it.

so sad no one is responding here after many years, I just start playing this game and had the same issue too. What I did is to run it in admin once, and then uncheck the admin and run it in normal again. It worked for me, the game is running well now.

9 years later and this is still a thing, no fix, just both companies involved still selling this scam to unsuspecting customers.
you need a path to the config C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Aspyr\Star Wars The Force Unleashed next edit Config. Namely <s id="IsKBAndMouse">TRUE</s> should be "TRUE" and then save.
