The game simply doesn't start for me after download from steam. Any help? I really got nostalgic and would like to enjoy this game...

So, I didn't find any options for virtual memory and your other tips also didn't work. But I did further research in other troubleshooting discussion and I found a fix for my game. I deleted the SWTFU Launcher.exe and renamed the SWTFU.exe to SWTFU Launcher.exe. Therefor I have a different issue: My controller doesn't work anymore. When my game worked a few days ago the controller worked, now it doesn't. If you have other ideas I'd be grateful if you'd share them, but if not it's no big deal.
For me, this was very helpful.

Actually the fix from prehor2 got it to run with minor issues remaining. Sounds are disappearing in and out however the game feels like it and I had no crashes yet after that dx9 installation he suggested, but the stage got bugged twice on separate occasions, just wasn't possible to complete due to some glitch I take it. I got to the area that was supposed to trigger the next event but it didn't.. luckily after a restart from checkpoint it works. Plus the disappearing sounds aren't those that you can download to fix, they are just... like the lightsaber sounds on occasions work and sometimes they don't, same for the background and ambience music. But it ran now. So kinda... thanks. Still not 100% for Win11 tho, this game is messed up now. :/

You'll have to run the game in compatibility mode win10 to get it to start. This is how windows runs programs that aren't supported with their newest OS. it isn't perfect but it solves the issue.
I don't see Windows 10. It just goes to windows 8.

Yeah the fix prehor2 posted on page 1 fixed it for me, that directx_x64_appx link. Sorry for late reply, I almost never check topic updates on steam.

The game would act like it started, but immediately crashed without loading up anything. i literally uninstalled/ reinstalled everything including steam, didn't do anything. changed all of the compatibility settings, none of them worked. I guess it was already set for the win8 by default even though im on win11? so i realized i never actually tried turning it off. Now compatibility is off completely it works? not sure if that helps anyone, but i was about to give up before i realized. and i dont know jack about this stuff, so thats all i can tell you.

So long as you got it to work, great. Again, all I needed was the installation from the first page that prehor2 kindly shared and it worked start to finish for me.

it says you need a dual core cpu to work?!! but ive heard somewhere you can switch off the others cores to make your cpu run dual instead but i dont know how exactly, i read somewhere on webs about running old games this way.

You're overthinking it. Don't have to worry about no cores or running only up to two. Just download the game and if it doesn't run right off the bat, reinstall your dx9 from page 1 and it will work then.

At least that's what did it for me. Read through this topic for potential fixes or if you need more help, let us know. I'm subbed to the topic now and I'll reply asap.

HEY GUYS. may the fourth be with you. and all the sales on the star wars games. especially Star Wars the force unleashed that refuses to work on steam. hanging out to play this but refuses to launch. sorry that im late to the party but after hours of research, i finally got it to launch.
- go to the star wars force unleashed in your library, right click and go "properties".
- go installed files then then 'browse local files".
- page will open to your documents where the games files are located.
- im Australian and my computer runs windows so the apps might be a little different. i DONT have .exe at the end of my applications names. However you will see "SWTFU Launcher" and simply 'SWTFU'
- what you wanna do is delete the launcher and rename the "SWTFU" file to "SWTFU Launcher" to make the actual application to its own launcher.
- keep in mind i havent found a fix for keyboard but works with controller.

i think the explanation is the files on steam where downloaded from a physical copy of the game. thats why the application has its own launcher. and when you activate it through steam, you computer dosnt know what to prioritise. getting rid of the laucher limits that option and renaming the main application to 'launcher' makes it prioritise the application itself to automatically run through steam. keep in mind, if you DO have .exe, the same thing applies. just keep .exe .

Hope this helps!!!
