I heard this port was bad
How bad are we talking, exactly? "Only playable with a controller" bad (like Dark Souls) or "this was ported so badly that stuff doesn't work as it should" bad?

no no this game got ported because it is popular

It's bad as "it requieres more power than it should". It has zero graphics settings (just one "high detail" ON or OFF, I have no clue of what it does). No AA, 30 fps cap, 30 GB installation (videos in every language LOL). And even with max settings, forced AA and all, most of the time it looks like crap, the LOD is horrible and stuff just pop at the screen.

I played with a 360 gamepad and even then I feel the controls to be unresponsive at times. I finished and uninstalled it and I will probably never play it again.

Industrial levels look fine. Natural enviroments look horrible. You can see stuff popping on screen 10 meters away. Plants, the ground and almost every detail looks blocky and just trown in the level randomnly. It's not a thing of technology or age (well, it is partially, the LoD is horrible like I said), is just bad taste and awful level design.

And the port is bad too xD

it's unfair to judge a 5ish year old game by its grapihcs. the game is extremely fun to play if you can get past it's weaknesses and a few places that are just plain impossible to figure out without searching online.

the port is indeed quite bad. the most noticeable things are that the buttons in the mini-games correspond to default keys in all cases. other things like that. they're not even things you'd consider polishing, just obvious changes for pc that simply aren't there. so yeah, like dark souls.

I don't care about the capped frames, but the controls are extremely laggy to the point you'll just walk away from the game. It is a straight up and down a controller game. If you play with m/kb you won't get the response you're use to on this game.

The graphics look fine, but I wouldn't judge a game by graphics alone. It's about the gameplay, and as stated above it's pretty crap in this PC port. Nothing feels fluid (as it should since you have the force) when in combat. If I hadn't got this as a gift, I would have never bought it on my own.

EDIT:

Any game that allows you to get your face kicked in while its in a QTE isn't something I'd call quality.

I know this is a bit old, but anyways. the game is for the most part excellent. well made, well built and well ported. there are almost no controller issues, except with throw detection. as for lag? nah, i dont think so. uncancellable actions, yes. but not lag. the nly bit that needs a mouse/controller is the damn star destryter. the rest is easy enough.

as for graphics? i cant see any complaints here. looks perfectly fine for me

I enjoy the game. at certain spots it drops FPS and gets a little laggy where as games like the latest tombraider wont do it. over all this and the sequil are pretty good. well worth the money and if you get it during the winter and summer sale it is even better.

Enjoying the game, but I've found that the sound is very erratic. during some cutscenes the music is really loud, but you can't hear what is being said, and at sum points the sound cuts out completely (mostly during boss battles and cut scenes) also the lack of subtitles is a severe dissapointment. I could live without the sound if I could read what they were saying. Another point is , for some reason, I have terrible issues with crashing. It crashes when starting up, when loading levels, when I change costume. Its rediculous. Probably won't play it on PC again after this. will look into getting it for the PS3 though.

I haven't had problems with my sound on this game. I play on windows 7 64-bit home premium.

I guess the question "How is this port?" can only be answered "It depends on your hardware." I didn't experience any frame drop, lag or glitching. Visuals are dated, but far from unplayable. Controller was responsive (I didn't play with mouse/keyboard). Overall, if you like the Star Wars IP and wanna feel like an awesome Jedi, AND your computer has decent hardware, the port is great. If your not in to Star Wars, or think that dual core Pentium processors are good enough, maybe you should look at a different game.
