How can I destroy the cranes on Felucia?

This is about the chains holding up the tentacle monster. I read that you're supposed to throw lightsaber at them to break them.
I can throw the lightsaber at items and people fine. But when I try the chains, it won't work. They have the little target indicator, it flashes red when I press Ctrl. I go Ctrl, right, left – and nothing happens. What am I doing wrong? I tried standing on and around the generator, as well as on the bridge.

Usually when something can be broken with a saber throw, it can be broken with force powers too. Try pushing it or grabbing it and throwing it. Its been a while since i played but I think you were supposed to go up the arm of the crane thing and hit it from there

I tried, but if I wasn't standing in the right spot, then nothing would work. I'll try getting up the arm of the crane, thanks. I was able to walk the cables, maybe I can somehow get further.

Since the answer isn't here;
1. Get to a position where the little blue force icon appears. Where the gun turret is near the front of the generators works.
2. hold control to lock on
3. Press r
4. Left click for lightsaber throw.

Note: Lightsaber throw arcs to the left so be in a positon where it won't clip terrain. if it does, it'll bounce back early.

You just need to get as close as possible (there are balconies) and throw from there
