The Force Unleashed Ultimate Sith Edition - save failed - requesting assistance/fix
I am trying to run The Force Unleashed Ultimate Sith Edition on Windows 10. When I opened the game, this message appears: "Save Failed. Please ensure that a valid storage device is selected and retry, or you may choose to continue but saving will be disabled."

Selecting "Retry Save" and "Select Storage Device" does not work. I tried running Steam and the game file as Administrator, but that did not solve the problem for me either.

Does anyone have a solution for this? Thank a lot in advance!

Hi ApostolicPaladin...I have not found a solution. For now, I've given up on it :( Hopefully someone will find the solution and reply here!

Hello. I have a solution. Simply go to documents/aspyr. there is a SWTFU file. delete it.
go to http://www.savegameworld.com/pc-star-wars-force-unleashed-sith-ultimate-edition-savegame/

dowload that savefile and put it in. if you dont want a 100% savegame, simply start a new game. and now, you can save!

Tried it. As soon as the first level start, I get the same message.

I just spent an hour looking for solutions and none of them works.
This port is a joke.

I have a solution that's working, I'm assuming you guys are on Windows 10 which apparently by default now uses OneDrive to save the "Documents" folder instead of "C:\Users\<username>\Documents".

The fix is to make Windows use the old Documents folder:
  • Start OneDrive if it's not started already, then Right click on the icon in the taskbar and select Settings.
  • Go to the "Auto-save" tab, and under "Documents and Pictures" section, select "This PC only" for Documents.
Now run the game and it should proceed normally.

Note: sometimes when you select Settings the "Auto-save" tab doesn't show, don't know why. If that happens just close the settings window and open it again till the tab shows.

Edit: I'm pretty sure if you do this, OneDrive will not automatically backup your Documents folder to the cloud, so keep that in mind if you decide to try it.

Alright, other things that I did were: run the game as administrator & make sure the antivirus isn't preventing the game from writing to the Documetns folder (Bitdefender on my PC did).

Hi, small necroposting here.

My solution is to turn off the cloud saves, as soon it is done the game saves perfectly even if you turn cloud on after the first load. One small note, I have had some saves before the glitch.

The save problem is easily solved by allowing the game to have access through the :Controlled Folder" in the Virus Protection setting.

This solved the problem!
This is how i fixed it, i didnt get the prompt at least
Go to Start (right click windows icon) > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Security > Virus & threat protection. Under Virus & threat protection settings, select Manage settings, and then under Exclusions, select Add or remove exclusions. Select Add an exclusion, and then select from files, folders, file types, or process. Then find file going through these files on whatever disc you have them on
Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Star Wars The Force Unleashed
add the force unleashed as an exclusion, and that should work. Hope it helps. Or just watch a video on how to exclude a file from windows defender.
