I've finally did it. It turns out that I had to move front of the destroyer higher than the arrow on mouse icon (bottom right) indicated and – what is IMO most important – don’t minding T-Fighters damage until over half of my health was gone. That way I’ve pulled down the Destroyer in three or four attempts.
Hope You’ve pass this ridiculous part in no time.
I figured it out. Just Hold "A" and keep moving the mouse til the star destroyer face you. Then it tells you to press "S" and move the mosuse. I held "S". Is there a way to make it move faster? This game isn't designed for mouse movement.
As for the Star Destroyer, try moving the mouse slower, it worked for me, but it required A LOT of patience!
Hope that helps! Good luck!
On PC, even with a gamepad the turn rate where you line up the ISD where you can pull it down works fine the first time - but every subsequent time you have to use it, the TIE-Fighters are spawning way too fast and the turn rate is horrible.
I don't know how this works on console where this game is originally designed for but at least for the PC port this seems almost like a bug or oversight.
HOWEVER - for anyone running into the same issue: I managed to solve this by applying the 60FPS fix.
You see, in a very terrible programming oversight the developers tied certain physics elements to the game's FRAME RATE (which is a horrible thing to do)!
When applying the 60FPS "fix" a lot of physics are going haywire - like when you force grip an item, it floats to the top really fast to the point where you cannot use it for some puzzles.
But this apparently also affects the turn rate of the Star Destroyer when gripping and also for pulling it down!
After I tried about 20 times to bring down the ISD and always got interrupted by the TIE-Fighter even BEFORE I managed to get the ISD in position, I applied the 60FPS executable and managed to bring down the Star Destroyer ON FIRST TRY!
To save you the frustration, here's how you apply the patch:
- go to your install directory for your SWTFU installation
- make a backup of the "SWTFU.exe" (copy and rename to eg. "SWTFU.bak") - you will need to revert the executable after finishing the Star Destroyer sequence to avoid the above mentioned botched physics
- download the fix from here: https://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/file/506-star-wars-the-force-unleashed-12-fps-cap-fix-60-fps-unlock/
- extract the "SWTFU.exe" from the archive ( make sure it's not the SWTFU2 directory in the archive) and overwrite your original game's exe
- start the game
- pull that f***er down
- enjoy the cutscene
- save and quit
- rename the backup executable (SWTFU.bak) back to "SWTFU.exe" and overwrite the 60FPS one so we're back to 30FPS and non-broken physics
- continue playing
Enjoy - and anyone getting super frustrated to the point of rage-quitting initially: I (and a lot of other people in forums) can relate!
mf i do have the 60 fps patch and IN THIS SEQUENCE I STILL GET 30 FPS XD
take cover behind those big things and then press q to fire lightning at the small ships, and after uve destroyed all of them use the force (right click) and hold down A, then when it says move the mouse up, or down, u do that, when u get to the point where the D becomes green, DO NOT press green, keep pressing a, and then once u get the ship facing down two prompts will pop up, S and the mouse pointing down, if u see any other prompt flashing, dont press them. they did that to trick u. the sith probably made the game, only explanation XD
take cover. kill the flying saucers, and then when kota says whatever he says, right click to use the force, hold down A, use the mouse while holding down A to whatever direction it says (down, up) and when the key "D" becomes green DO NOT press D, keep holding A, u get to the pull down part, hold S and drag the mouse down, do not press any other prompts that are flashing, idk why tf they did that, but do not hold down d or a, keep holding S, do it slow and steady, i recommend u when the prompt to drop the ship comes up lift the mouse all the way up to the mouse pad and then from there, drag it down slowly, the slower u do it the slower the ships will attack. and u will have more time to drop down the ship, good luck.
