Can the floating head teleport?

So I was just doing a mission solo and was doing extremely well. Had a 12k quota and found an 11k explosive barrel in the first room and looted another 12k very quickly in a couple neighboring rooms. I just went to park my cart in the extractor spot to clear the first area with a hefty 12k extra for the next if needed and I had my back turned around toward the door for the extraction process being busy there. When I turned back around with the cart to leave the room. The floating head dude was just there in the door staring at me and INSTANTLY went aggressive. Being as he was blocking the only way in and out of the room I tried desperately for the last ditch effort of throwing my grenade to hopefully kill him but he closed the gap a lot faster then I thought he would and it missed needless to say I got cornered in the van and died. I don't know what happened because that is the first time I ever ran into him in a game. I didn't hear any sound what so ever no teeth sounds like i've read about online, no draft of wind sound, nothing he was just there staring at me! I don't have a clue how long he was standing there looking at me. The only sound I probably heard was me ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ my pants in fear when he was just there seemingly out of midair. So I was wondering does he also have the power to teleport or something? If so that seems blatantly unfair that he can teleport in the doorway just outside of the safe room in direct line of sight. There was absolutely nothing I could have done to save myself in that situation that i'm aware of.
