Dude just queue back up you "lost" a few mins of your time. Who cares, you should have had fun with your pals on the journey to that point of failure regardless. The unwinnable game is annoying as hell I agree, but it happens, oh well, run it back. Maybe try looking for a mod or something to problem solve it
*EDIT*
To answer original question. You can self destruct from the menu if you feel you are in unwinnable situation. This resets you back to level 1 after the loser brawl.
Giving the game a thumbs down because you are bad at it is crazyyy.
Anyway, ive only found myself in this situation once, trying to kill monsters is the only solution either by drawing the frog into a pit or throwing a rugrat in there, or using the spewer to kill other monsters or perhaps even using other interactible items to kill them, if u dont want to cus its boring than just restart, one thing u cant complain about with this game is its amazing gameplay loop.
You saying its bait makes me feel like you haven't played the game at all. This exact same thing happened to our group crusher kept destroying our items and we had no clue why until looking it up on this thread here. Nothing this guy is saying is bait, when you put any item in the box the timer starts triggering and if it isnt fully within the square it gets destroyed. Not seeing why people getting so triggered on this thread lol
Try hard kids who think they're impressive, nothing to concern yourself with. As you say, it happens and it's not clear at first why, and when it does become clear, it doesn't make it feel any more justified. You're tasked with taking X loot to Y place, then Y place actively attempts to destroy any of the larger items. Baffling design decision that takes away from the entire core loop of the game. I truly hope they recognise how much this doesn't aid the game in any way.
I agree I think the game would be better if they got rid of that and just let any item in the square count.
There is an item in shop that can track the locations of valuables. While it isn't built-in like lethal, its still good enough if you want to make sure you aren't wasting time.
