Cant join friends and friends cant join me

Just started playing and i made a carrer and character on gta online went through some of the 'tutorial' about the carrer (executive). Im able to join gta5 online servers but i cant join my friends and they cant join me at all? Havent done the story mode yet and was wondering if thats why. Btw the join friends button is blurred out even thought i have friends online and when i try to go on friends tab and click on my frick it says something about "waiting for them to play gta online so that you can compare stats" even though my 2 friends that hsve already been playing together..

Note: i have the steam achievement that say i completed the gta online intro

I'm gonna do the most R* response and tell you to verify the game files.
also have you tried friends only or invite only sessions? public sessions can most times be full.
also about your friends not appearing online, did they have the setting to hide their online appearance. there is an option in the rockstar social club (press the HOME button) to either appear online to everyone, friends only or no one.

About the appear offline part i would assume no because i was playing with 2 of my friends and they could play with each other, but when i tried to join either of them i couldnt.

Would not be surprised if doing career builder thing puts you at the glitched state same as skipping tutorial could. Maybe try making new character and see if it gives option to do og tutorial there. If it does, then do not skip it and complete all the way until you buy clothing. If it allows you to join friends then, it should fix it for both characters.

YO the same problem happening to my friend. We wanted to start our 1 month gta session, and on the first day my friend came with us, he succesfully loaded into gta online. And the next day the friends dissapeared and he couldn't load into gta online. Always error messages pop up about cloud saves or something. And we tried to DNS flush, we tried to delete his save file, to verify game files. Nothing worked. The only thing we acchieved is if he deletes the game files he can load into online once, but the friends not show up. And I can send him job invites, but he doesn't see it. So I hope that someone will help you dawg cus My friend is suffering from this type of thing. Once gta V enhanced came, everything is buggy for us.
