Voice chat should be enabled by default since they removed text chat
Why is it disabled by default? If you don't want to give us text chat, then give us voice chat on by default people don't have to go in and enable it. Make it on by default so people can hear you.

Warning: You'll lose braincells reading the counter arguments

Then, many don't need to rub 2 cells together to remember to turn it on or off.

That's irrelevant. So then by that logic then they should remove VC all together. Griefing is also against the guidelines, but look what still happens and no punishment is handed out.

You can beg for voice chat being enabled by default all you want. I am 100% glad it is not. If you enable voice chat you get people doing things like blowing air horns into their microphone just to screw with everyone in the session.

I also do not want GTA suddenly picking up audio from a microphone I happened to have plugged into my computer and start broadcasting any audio it hears to the whole farking session without me knowing it. Text chat has to be invoked by a player; audio chat is farking awful and most of us leave it disabled for very good reasons.

b-but you're missing out on all the pointless arguing, chip munching, heavy breathing, screaming babies, fire alarms, literal nukes going off, angry unsupervised children, and more nuisances!!!

Voice chat is the only way to communicate now. Your examples are a very small minority. Then they could fix voice chat to be good if they're so against text chat, and yet again, there's a MUTE BUTTON and you can TURN IT OFF. It's OPTIONAL.

This discussion wouldn't even exist if text chat wasn't removed.

Spoken like a true griefer. Go read report options and the EULA on gta online. You can be banned for griefing.

they put you on the minimap for everyone to see, tell the whole lobby you're selling cargo, add overpowered things to the game that have almost no counters despite having a million uses, refuse to fix modding, and never encourage any amount of teamwork outside of heists. they added the report option and the griefing section to the EULA to make people feel better and that's it, none of those griefer reports are actually read by anyone at rockstar and are probably automatically deleted when they are sent.

"Legacy had text chat, Enhanced doesn't - boo hoo, they removed it!" Thing is, they didn't nothing like that. Look around the Steam forums and you'll find out, that stuff isn't as it seems. In fact R* ported Enhanced from E&E on consoles. Most of the code is console spaghetti, yes, they implemented PC keybinds, hooray, but they didn't remove text chat, the hard fact is, they didn't implement it in Enhanced yet. Dataminers found burried out in the Updates.cfl file a line, that reads "Text chat hasn't been yet added to gen9" and there's a commentary to that line, that reads "it will be added soon". So yea, all the good people whining about evil R* removing chat are wrong. They try to figure out, how to implement it yet, since it's clearly ported over from a version, that didn't have text chat (like consoles for example).

Still doesn't change that anti griefing is a part of their EULA. It's dumb, but that's how it is. Griefing is different than just going around capping people in a driveby.

This isn't an anti-grief discussion cry about being griefing or what's griefing or not, it's about the voice chat being on, and people crying that they have the option to turn it off if they don't like it.

Pulled that information right out of your ass 🐑🐑🐑🐑. Let's see some proof. They shouldn't have released the game in this state then if text chat is a "feature planning to be added". What's next, it's GTA+ exclusive? Wouldn't be surprised.

My examples are very relevant. I agree I wish text chat wasn't removed. Regardless, voice chat is awful and so many people broadcast unintentionally without realizing it. The last thing I want to hear when joining GTA is some asphole's kid crying in the background because he's too stupid to use push to talk.

You literally don't know what you are talking about. Every time you try to do any kind of sale, Cockstar broadcasts your activity to the WHOLE SESSION and tells EVERYONE to come try to stop you. They literally designed the game to get people to screw with each other in the hopes that people get frustrated and go buy shark cards instead of trying to earn money legitimately.

All it takes is one simple press of a button to mute and disable it all together. The point of it being enabled by default is that so that most people can communicate. Your pointless disagreement makes you seem entirely lazy. because you can disable it, just like how it's automatically disabled by default. But the same can't be said for the opposite because most people won't turn it on, or don't even know it exists.

You know what, let's just disable any communication all together, text and all. Let's also delete steam discussions because I don't want to hear the crying child responses to a suggestion that would solve communication issues.
