Reflections look way sharper with the new dlss quality in 4k and it is generally sharper. But i do use it because of the decreased performance on my 3080ti over the implemented dlss.
I sorted by release date.
https://steamdb.info/tech/SDK/DirectStorage/?sort=release_desc
1) Can I also get DLSS4 by simply using NVIDIA Profile Inspector? But how? When I google this software I don’t find the version 2.4.2.3 (I saw a screenshot somewhere from this version with „Latest DLSS“-parameters, even for frame generation). Can someone help me out please? Here I find only version 2.4.0.18: https://github.com/Orbmu2k/nvidiaProfileInspector/releases
Then I found a 2.4.2.3-version screenshot somewhere but without the „Latest DLSS“-options. So where can I get the right (best) version?
2) Is the above Inspector method the same like copying the DLSS4-file from opening post manually in the game directory? And would it even work because I read at Nexus mod site that there is a mod for using DLSS4 which would be needed, otherwise the game would always automatically revert to the original (old) DLSS file at every game start automatically??
https://www.nexusmods.com/gta5/mods/1199
2) And someone wrote that with the tool „Lossless Scaling“ we can use frame generation in this game. Does this really work or should we wait for official FG implementation which should come soon, right?
Thank you guys in advance…
OP has a note at the very end of his post for a modified profile inspector.
However, I don't think it will swap DLSS to a different version.
All the methods for updating DLSS swap the .dll file.
So whether you use a software or manually.
There are a few ways to update DLSS
• Manual swap of the file
• The Nvidia app that ships with drivers
This method might have you waiting around for an update
• DLSS Swapper on github
https://github.com/beeradmoore/dlss-swapper/releases/tag/v1.1.6
As for whether the .dll will revert back to default, that depends on the game.
Some games verify files and might revert it back to default version.
I had this happen to me with Diablo IV on battle.net app.
Not sure if steam version would do that unless you manually verified files.
Lossless Scaling, I never used this before so can't comment on it.
DLSS Swapper is what I use to manage DLSS everywhere but OP has a file you can download to swap manually.
DLSS Swapper does show you frame generation version and allows swapping all DLSS versions to date. So all previous versions are an option as well.
DLSS Swapper does make backups and gives option to revert back to default.
You prob want to manually check files when using DLSS Swapper as it only swaps the core nvgnx_dlss.dll meanwhile dlss has at least 3 dlls like nvgnx_dlssg.dll for frame gen and nvgnx_dlssd.dll for ray reconstruction. I did also throw in the updated Nvidia Streamline .dlls in the mega file cause I'm not sure if those help with DLSS but updating them is never a bad idea.
That github link is for the old outdated Nvidia Profile Inspector, you want to use this one:
https://github.com/xHybred/NvidiaProfileInspectorRevamped
Orbmu2k abandoned the project and xHybred is updating it now
The inspector allows you to change options in your Nvidia driver that you can't normally access through the app or Nvidia Control Panel.
The Mega link I provided in my original post has all the dlls for DLSS 4 and Nvidia Streamline, you can find all the files you need to replace in the game's main folder.
The mod you've linked is factually incorrect, the launcher doesn't revert DLSS version, only updates were doing so. This is not surprising though, there are often a lot of people posting mods early on in a game's release whether they work or not because they want to cash in on endorsements, etc. on Nexusmods
Lossless Scaling works but is not ideal since it can only insert frames with a 100% rate, if it inserts 1 frame between every other frame, it inserts 1 frame between every other frame, it is incapable of say, adding 20fps to 100fps to smooth out the framerate and as such any stutters actually get AMPLIFIED by Lossless Scaling's framegen. It works, but yeah, may find that stutters become more noticable.
The consoles make use of FSR so that working better then DLSS....yeah.....
(Not that there is anything wrong with FSR, its a fine upscaling tech imo, but DLSS should work just as well because in many ways its all the same stuff)
I mean we didn't even get proper HDR support, not gonna argue that.
