Sound problems
Am I the only one who has sound problems? The sound sounds very far away and muffled like it's coming from a tin can. Windows 11 and all drivers are of course up to date. it's only in gta 5 so all other games work normally and the sound is very good. I've tried a lot of things that I found on the internet but the sound is still bad. Does anyone have any advice? Is this a bug?

I'll translate this message for you: We released an unfinished game/mod, and none of our developers noticed that the sound was broken during development. We'll release a patch as soon as the developers return from their vacation, which they deserve for their hard work.
Answer is simple. RS uses Atmos as the only option for the game and forces the player to life with the ♥♥♥♥ they produced because there are no audio options to change available in the game.

The sound issues are apparently the same as the console E&E version suffers from. Lack of sound processing / no environmental effects. My guess is that Rockstar had to decide between better graphics and good sound as there is a very CPU budget to play with when it comes to the consoles. On PC, however, any PC able to run the ray tracing effects will be able to handle the sound effects too. They just didn't bother to re-enable them. And we can't have PC players have a better experience than consoles now, can we?

Yeah pretty much.
All their replies so far have been generic "reinstall blah blah" and now they have no real info and are just telling me to visit the official microsoft support site, even though this is the only game giving me audio issues.

Would not be surprised if this uses that Atmos garbage. All games with it sound terrible. It's like the left and right channels are experiencing synesthesia and everything sounds distant and misplaced. It's very disorienting. Classic Atmos symptom. If you don't have Atmos certified equipment you are ♥♥♥♥ out of luck and contacting support is a complete waste of time. There is nothing you can do other than go buy some $200 headphones.

so am I not the only one who thinks the audio sounds like it's from a game from 2000?

Notice there's another update today, but doubt it addresses the audio issue, per usual.

And another one today. RS is spitting updates like a cowboy tobacco but they only fix some of their online crap. Nothing that would change functions per se.

We've all known for a long time that Rockstar treats its singleplayer fans very poorly. Which is the reason why I'm not interested in GTA 6 aka BossGirl and Beta Male. I've already uninstalled the game. I'm not going to wait that long just to have good sound. There are plenty of other good games.
