Why remove audio layout options (Surround sound)?
Honestly, why remove the audio options that were in Legacy. I play on a 5.1 system and it was a really nice thing to have. Same for when I switched to headphones.

Now it's just a single output and honestly is a huge auditory downgrade.

While we're at it, is anyone else having an issue where the game plays at one volume no matter the setting? 100 volume and 2 volume are the exact same output. I found RE2 Remake does this too.

Agreed. :FH5Kudos:
The game simply uses YOUR standard Windows audio adapter with it's settings. If you have set it there to 5.1 it's that and if you set it to Dolby Atmos it also does that. There is no need for ingame settings like that. It never was needed.

Ingame settings only help, if you for example have an AVR and are currently playing with 7.1 surround sound or whatever and then you want to switch to headphones that you plug into your AVR. Then you could change it from surround to headphones ingame. But most ppl don't need this.

Options are never a bad thing.

Save for when you have devices that 'stereo' selection doesn't exist for. Mine is stuck on '7.1 surround' in windows as its entirely software. Letting windows handle it isn't an option in my case.

Yes, but it turned out that same audio settings in Legacy for 7.1 in Windows and in Enhaced are not the same. I have 7.1 in Windows but the sound in Enhanced is smth terrible. Muffled sound, like u r trying to hear it through a pillow. Positioning also terrible. I had to return to stereo because of that. Evrything was ok in Legacy

Literally my use case.
Windows forces Dolby Digital out via optical into my Yamaha AVR. AVR handles 5.1 decoding and passes to speakers, requires Stereo switch for 1/4" headphone output.
"Enhanced" no longer offers digital compatibility. Game doesnt output correctly and will never switch.
Game is literally stuck in stereo mode and sounds awful on any real soundsystem.

For the record, "7.1 headphones" and the like use PLII emulation at best, and not genuine surround.

There was literally no reason to remove this setting as it worked fine in Legacy, and even modern titles like Monster Hunter Wilds have it.
