Ray tracing (RT) looks like vaseline smear
as title states, ive looked at RT on vs RT off, and it seems like RT on makes the edges of everything look horrendous and reflections are the worst culprit. it looks like really bad artifacting and low resolution textures with RT on. anyone have any solutions or answers?

I'm playing with RT off until they fix this but i would love to keep it on as I noticed the general lighting looks noticeably better, just reflections ruin the hell out of it.

Also the game looks like its always upscaling aggressively, with things like fences and such.

Ghosting is also insanely bad. I have motion blur off, and driving in a fast car you can see like 3 or 4 instances of the rear end have a ghosting effect as you drive. What to do?

What Hardware are you using and are the drivers all updated ?
Depends on what res you play. Try upscaling your res via the nvidia driver (add custom res) go higher than your monitor (in full screen in game) then use DLSS, that way it'll be better than say using it on 1080p.

I also suggest trying the upscaling in game 1.25x, it sounds like a DLSS issue for the smeary stuff, but even on 1080p, i didn;'t notice dlss to be bad.

a lot of times when games are released or release new gfx featrues like ray tracing the drivers need to be updated and as far as i know there hasnt been any updates
there's an nvidia driver that's meant for GTA enhanced, go download it. It came yesterday i thinks

The ray tracing reflections even when set to ultra are a bit lower res than the environment but you only really notice it if you are pixel hunting and not just taking in the general scenery when walking or driving. But overall the new ray tracing effects are a definite plus to the look of the game. More so at night with all the light sources with different colors than daytime. Also I think you get better ray traced reflection when walking than when in a car for some reason.

here's a link to the new driver

Game Ready for GeForce RTX 5070 and FragPunk

This new Game Ready Driver supports the new GeForce RTX 5070 Ti GPU and provides the best gaming experience for the latest new games supporting DLSS 4 technology including FragPunk. Further support for new titles leveraging DLSS technology includes the free upgrade for Grand Theft Auto V.
To have the ray tracing(reflections) look better is to upscale your resolution and then use DLSS, preferably using the K version, but as it stands the nvidia app does not yet detect the game, even after the driver update. That'll surely make it look better even on a lower preset like "Performance". Assuming you have a 24inch (1080p) or say 2k and you wanna go higher, read underneath.

As it stands, my recommandation is to upscale your resolution manually in the nvidia control panel, then set it in game, then use DLSS and you'll see that ♥♥♥♥ looks better. Also make sure you get true resolution and not nvidia bs like 2k to 1080p and such, 2k to 2k, 4k to 4k. You gotta fiddle with scaling for that.

To check if you get true resolution, once you customize your 2k/3k/4k res in the control panel, go to display settings on your desktop, monitor, set the custom resolution , then under "advanced display settings" both "Desktop resolution" and "Active signal resolution" should be the same, ie : 2k or w/e you upscale it to. If either of it is different than the other, then Nvidia is doing the DSRAI ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I do not recommend you use "DSR" via the nvidia control panel, just plain add the custom res.

Then when you set that resolution in game, you wont have any unncesary downscale/upscale further smearing stuff.
