Where to start in the online mode???

I haven't played gta online since like 2015. Back then it was all just "get an apartment and do heists".

But now I start the game and it gives me a career and 4 million to start the career, and when I finally get out of the tutorial and into free roam, the map is completely littered in mission markers, but It seems I don't have the necessary vehicles or buildings for these. Also Idk which ones are actually worth doing for money or new stuff.

Am I suppose to just do random CEO VIP missions in the "M" menu until I can make enough to start buying the vehicles for these other heists and missions? Do people still do the older heists? Or did power creep make them irrelevant?
