Game is stuttering a lot? (Fixed, kinda.)
For some reason no matter what settings I use, the 1% FPS lows are at 10-15 for some reason, compared to locked 120 on the normal GTA, what’s going on here?

Edit: March 6th: After Updating NVIDIA Drivers to 572.70, the performance went from 60FPS to 100 FPS (MAX SETTINGS) and the stuttering is gone, but this is only with few minutes of gameplay, will do more testing and if needs to be updated, I will update this post again.

Edit 2: March 8th: The game DOES stutter when there are few players around fighting with eachother and cops everywhere, even without raytracing, that needs to be sorted out as it's very distracting and unplayable.

Edit 3: March 30th The Stuttering seems to have gotten better but then I haven't had such scenarios with too many players and cops around, but it seems to have gotten better.

after today's update on epic games i'm having constant stutters with raytracing off. even the performance with raytracing on is abyssmal now for whatever reason.
5700X3D and a 4080. It definitely stutters due to severe frame pacing issues. Might be driver related but it's more likely the game needs patching.
Game is fine for me. It's on an nvme drive, and on Windows 11 23H2. R7 7700 with a 3060 Ti.

7800x3D + 4090 572.60 and 572.70 driverz

4K all maxxed out, Reflex On, On+Boost, Frame Limiter Off or any FPS down to 90. DLAA or DLSS Quality. DLSS shipped version or replaced with the latest.

It just runs like garbage, stuttery/jerky af, it’s very very noticeable during cutscenes, character movements tearing / jerky. Gameplay jerky. Pretty bad

For everyone who has stutter, I think we have a commonality since some users report no issues. I’ve seen reports from both AMD and Intel CPUs as well as users who use either Nvidia or AMD. Assuming most use windows 11, are you all 24h2?

It is very early on and don’t want to assume but 24h2 has come up in the past with possible performance problems. Since Moonwitch mentioned no issues and 23h2, might be a hint. There is also a potential that Direct Storage could be a factor based on a few user reports. I have an app that direct storage doesn’t like. This would at least in theory disable Direct Storage for a comparison.

Now, I don’t want a bunch of users blowing their OS away, and more time is needed for sure, there “could” be a connection.

Fairly frequent stuttering, if im standing still its fine but if I go driving around they happen every now and then and its quite annoying

I honestly dont believe people on these forums that claim “everything works fine all maxxed out”, these people exist on every single game. Hell, even on Silent Hill 2 launch, tons of people were saying it was perfectly fine and smooth, there’s literally people that cannot notice stutters or frametime variations which is wild to me. Even after DFs video analyzing the insane stuttering, there’s still those people that claim they have none of that and tell you to turn HAGS off or check if you have an antivirus running rofl. Hilarious
"Game is stuttering a lot?"

Nope.

Runs great for me, 1080p, 60fps locked in. About 11 hrs in, no crashes, no issues. Oh, sometimes my Xbox controller stops working, out of a cutscene. I have to unpulg it and plug it back in. I am just using it wired.

Good luck!!!

only thing i noticed was that despite having higher than 60 fps, the framtimes were off as it felt stuttery or hitchy. For me, simply changing from borderless to fullscreen fixed this.

True, I remember a friend of mine being like "nice graphics, running smooth..." and when I saw that ouch... xD

It could be because of 24H2, but that's information we haven't heard yet from others that are experiencing these stutter issues. I know many games just perform way worse with that update ie Ubisoft titles. I'm also on the driver version 572.16 since the later versions apparently cause black screen issues that force a reboot.

It works fine for me, but not everything is all maxed out. Just a mix of high and ultra settings with DLSS Quality, nvidia reflex set to off, and ray tracing set to high. Don't believe the ones that just say "works fine for me lol" but more of ones that are like mine with going in to more detail with what settings, system specs, windows version, and gpu driver version.

Guys, it's not your hardware, it's the patch that they released yesterday that increased FPS cap to 163 but has way too many stutters. Check here for more info https://x.com/STeach404/status/1897292684559311165

They did very poor implementation, they should take advice from FiveM because it uncaps FPS properly without stuttering or bad frametimes.

Yes, I'm having problems with 1% low in this game, it needs an update to fix this

@Moonwitch; I am not trying to come to any conclusions 100%, but it would be good to try and find commonality on this. As for the nvidia driver, I still use 566.36. They introduced a bug affecting some 2d graphics. It was most notable for me within VMWare with hardware Acceleration enabled. Since I use vmware to remote into work, I couldn't deal with that bug. Not sure if today's driver(572.70) solved it, but every other driver had the issue, haha.

@Everyone: So, I tried my test running the game with and without Direct Storage(Used a Storage Filter Driver that DS doesn't support) and although I had stutter in both instances, I feel that the Direct Storage test was worse. I will have all of this compiled and linked probably tomorrow. Need to find where to upload 4GB of video data, haha. Still not a fix unfortunately.
EDIT SOLVED: Installing the new nvida driver for the dlss that came out today worked for me!

Was working perfectly yesterday, today I have microstuttering. I saw it could be an issue with newer hardware and CPU. I have an i9-14900kf and a 4090 and am playing at 120 fps, high graphics, 1440p, RT off, so theres no reason it should be. i just had my bios updated too last week. Hopefully they patch it :)
