How do people communicate in this version of the game?

99% have their mics off (default settings), so you can't use your mic to speak with other players

Most people don't any more, which is how Rockstar wants it. Voice chat in the game, or the extra crappy send text messages via the in game phone method are your only in game options.

You can use third party services like Discord even to text chat but it requires everyone in the session to know each other and be on the same discord server, which 100% defeats the point. Rockstar screwed the game by removing text chat, hence the massive drop in player counts and review scores.

Same way people communicate on console. You either have a mic, or just start to intuit what the group is doing with some situational awareness and act accordingly.

Still not sure why they killed text chat on PC though. That just seems strange.

Honking, pointing with B, aiming, flashing your lights, writing messages on the walls with bullets, etc

Or you could just message them through your phone, but I doubt this works on the average player, because 8 out of 10 times they ignore the message
