Crashes when screen sharing on discord
Crashes when specifically screen sharing the game instead of your desktop, why??
Originally posted by Klutch:
What actually happens is that Discord’s screen-sharing hook interacts with the game’s rendering pipeline, and GTA V, being an old but constantly patched mess, doesn't always like that. Some games detect overlays and external hooks (like Discord, OBS, or even MSI Afterburner) as "intrusions", which can cause crashes.

then it's not ram and cpu... just the game that has issue with the hook for screen sharing
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

does anyone know how to disable it?

try playing with the settings on discord. there was something about hardware acceleration in there if i recall, try turning that off. also try making sure you actually picking a resolution to stream in and not leaving it set to "auto".

i remember certain settings helped stabilize but it's been a while since i deleted my discord account otherwise i'd check it out to be of better help.

Yeah, no, that isn't it. I've been streaming it fine, so has everyone I know, like for years, playing this, even before the enhanced update. It eats a lot of your system's requirements, and people lacking in them have issues... Most likely you CPU and or ram is not as good as it use to be or you just peaked on it and caused a crash. Could even be a GPU first ting I would do is open task maanger in second montitor and watch performance while I run it to figure it out, THEN I would give out fringe gueess based on "must be devs players never mess up and all computers are good computers."

I mean ♥♥♥♥ I spent decades ahving to trouble shoot my frirends and families pcs and its 2/3 time ahrdware related or a combo of tons of randome ♥♥♥♥ runnign that shouldn't be in background and hardware issues. Like last time i fixed a friends pc I did a scan found over 2k hits for spyware and malawore, and they were like "huh But I never go to any bad sites, itsl ike you can get it from more then just porn sites these days sigh. Then 6 months later I am back and looking for icons for the stuff I installed 'well when it did scheduled scans it slowed my computer down so I unistalled them all..." For love of christ change when times are to when your not doing it or turn it off and manually run it while you eat dinner or some ♥♥♥♥ once a week ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥..

But yeah rest time its bad parts normally PSU going bad, which can sometimes damage other parts. and with gaming these days the hard drive read write speed is huge one. I seen some one drop 1200 bucks ona GPU then use a HDD worth 45 bucks more times then I can count...

Like i use to challange people I knew to benchmarks and they be like "why your pc score better mine got better numebrs!" Its like yours is full of garbage, and that damn hard drive is slowing down everything does no good if its fastest GPU ever made if its bottle necked by your hard drive that stores all ♥♥♥♥ it needs to get lol.

any hint why gta enhance crashes when discord is running?

if discord is running and i start gta it crashes as soon as some of the police stars in the intro show. sometiems after the 2nd soemtimes after the 4th. but it will never go past that.

when gta is running and i start discord, gta will crash very shortly.
iam not talking about streaming or anything. only have the discord ap running on my pc is enought.

besides that i have no issues with gta

Ehm... ok? Like, you are assuming I don't know much about my pc or something, but that isn't it. 1: i regularly scan my pc for malwares

2. Only GTA has this issue. Not even Cyberpunk with full path tracing gave me any issues with screen share soo, yeah. As we said the problem is the hook that discord uses to screen share GTA5, because as I said, If I screenshare my whole screen gta doesn't care, but if I screen share SPECIFICALLY only the GTA5 window 2 times out of 3 it closes without any crash error or log or anything.

Also this problem is specific for me to the Enhanced edition, it never happened on legacy.
